I'll try decanting a bottle this weekend for a couple of hours and see how I get on.

The leftover wine which had plenty of air to breathe in is a much better wine tonight. Blackberry and mulberry on the nose and palate with the fruit coming through nicely. The tannin is still there but has definitely taken a back seat (and stopped driving). Quite savoury and moreish. I would be a touch disappointed if I had paid $25, but would have been quite happy if it had been in the $15-$20 range.

I think this confirms my leave till 2011 thoughts. Interested to hear your impressions with a good decant Rawshack.

Cheers

Well last night I popped open a bottle and decanted in my trusted duck for around 2 1/2 hours

I'll cut to the chase. I didn't like it, and I honestly don't think that it's a well made wine. The fruit simply isn't strong enough to stand up to those big tannins and bright acidity, and the fruit that is there just isn't good enough IMO. Admittedly the tannins softened a little with some air to it, but I just found it out of balance and not particularly a good wine, regardless of price

I know I'm in the minority here, but my tin hat is firmly in place and I'm in trench mentality
Like the other times I picked up a Dome 24 bttls wine fridge for $50 at target.

And today I was just browsing the local book store when I saw "1001 wines you must try before you die" by Houn Hooke for just $12.

Now all I need is to find a Vintec unit for under $200. (when hell freezes over)

Please share yours.
Why wait for Vintecs running cost to ruin you and humidity issues wreck your wine. Go buy a Dome or a Kitchener.
