Ollie...$49 AUS for BP 2004...is the reward for living in the most expensive country in the world!!...sour grapes directed to me...i know...this vintage is going for at least $110 per bottle on secondary (auction) markets. I lived in UK for 12 months...bugger me the only things that were cheaper that i recalled (1997-1998) was chocolate bars...and by the way...your chocolate recipe is better than ours due to the cooler climate....ooh...the other thing that was cheaper was scamming on the Tube and British Rail...gee i miss "hanging out in the UK...enjoy the BP 2004...its fabulous.

Hi Jamie
Most of them I bought through an auction platform (similar to Ebay), the Rockford and Noon through a retailer.
Cheers.

6x 2004 Penfolds St. Henri
6x 2002 Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon (*)

This was from DM. Pretty cheap for a relative oldie, approx $30 a bottle. A bit of a punt since I couldn't find much info on the 2002. Any thoughts on this one; whether to drink now / soon or keep?

All sorts of odds and ends this March but the main find was the 2004 Rocca della Macie 'Roccato' a Super Tuscan of 50% Cabernet and 50% Sangiovese. I saw the wine selling for C$22.50 and recalling that I had seen the wine in an expensive chain store for $55 per bottle I bought all 6 bottles on the shelf. At the next wine tasting dinner I offered a couple of my friends a pair of bottles each.
A week later the store replenishes it's stock and I buy another 6 bottles thinking that my friends would like to get some more. This time I serve them a bottle but they aren't too pleased with the wine. I think the wine doesn't do so well because we had a couple of bottles of high alcohol California Zinfandels that were quite sweet prior to tasting the Roccato.
My partner and I open another bottle a few days later to assure ourselves that the wine is good and discover that we now like the Roccato even more. Next thing I know one of my friend says he saw the Roccato on sale for C$19/bottle and asks if I want any more bottles. Yes please I say.
So now I have 9 bottles of '04 Rocca della Macie 'Roccato' and we plan to cellar it for at least 10 years.
Cheers................Mahmoud.

Some old rosemounts - 2001 traditional, and 1995 reserve shiraz's from Langtons - the 1995 still has a few years in it yet.
Also got some 1997 Sally's Paddock - what a waste of bucketloads of cash - dreadful wine - Robb can't be pleased with this effort
A 1991 Briar Ridge Stockhausen shiraz - beautiful example of an old Hunter that typifies elegance and class
Some Capstone shiraz 03 thru Sterling auctions - lovely drop for about $20 a pop
Some more old Yalumba racehorse ports - go great with a cuban (and a good bit cheaper than Lochanora).
cheers

Too much but I can only buy in 12's from bonded stock. Offload some to friends or anyone passing through Hong Kong needing a few bottles happy to dump ( except Beau and Germans ) at the price I bought.
Hong Kong still not delivering tax free pricing! The above from London stocklists.

A pretty fair vintage, should be drinking very well now, but better in another 5 years, if you can wait. Most of the Wynns BLs will live for 20 years.

My aim of diversification went out the window, succumbed again to the "bargains" once again; last six weeks:
Balgownie Estate The Goldfields Sc/M 2006 (8 Doz) House red for 2010-12 ($9) Needs a good day's decant right now, or more.
Yalumba FDWC(7) 4Doz - "better" house white 2009/11 <$19
Yalumba Signature 04 3 Mags $62
St Henri 04 (7) one for Easter, rest into store
06 389's (7) as above
06 407's (7) as above
All Pennies ex DM while on special, restraining myself. Will give the other current release Pennies a miss.
LEAS 05 & 06 3 each ex CM, good price after 30% discount. Got to keep the vertical going.
And a few singles/twos. Missus doesn't mind as the points are fast accumulating for another return trip to London. She goes with friends, I stay and work; small consolation - methinks
