They are sensational wines. I couldn't decide which I preferred out of the 85 and 86 - so I just enjoyed both. I've got some of the 04 but haven't tried it. Given the longevity of the others, I've stashed them away.

There’s nothing in my cellar that about four bites at Langton’s auctions couldn’t easily replace – but you have to spend around 25% more than I have to acquire it! The glory of the cellar is probably nice little handfuls of 96 & 98 vintages of decent South Australian wines: Cyril, John Riddoch, Wendouree Shiraz, Gaia, Polish Hill, that sort of thing. The majority of the last 10 years of Quintet are nice to have, and drink from time to time. I do have one 96 Grange, can’t think when I’ll drink that.
And if you like the Penfolds style (which I do, on the whole) its so pleasant to have older vintages purchased at sensible prices. My Penfolds reds only span from 91 – 04 (mostly 96 & 98), but replacing them at auction would cost roughly twice what I paid for them. Don't even think about retail prices!
There’s a 1970 Lindemans Hunter shiraz which I’m keeping for a few more years, and a novelty might be probably the only bottle of 2001 Friedrich Fuchs Klusserather Bruderschaft Auslese riesling in Australia – a souvenir bottle from a trip back in 2003 and the survivor of a pair we bought at the cellar door in the Moselle.
Nothing’s too precious to drink, however…
Cheers,
Graeme

Who are the producers of the Cabernet Franc Ice Wine from Canada, and the Lemburger from New York State?
My most sentimental wine:-
1994 Hawkes Bay Sauvignon blanc (the first wine I ever made and bottled)
I utmost gem would be the:-
1868 Barbeito Bual (Madeira) - drinks delicously as I had the opportunity to try it before purchase. The 1834 was also stunning.
Followed by some other highlights of:-
1928 Larressingle Armagnac (thanks Mark)
1990 d'Yquem
1990 Grange
1970 Grange (birth year)
1988 Krug
1994 Taylors VP
1982 Banyuls
A case of mixed Canadian icewines
Case of 1995 Esk Valley Terraces
the usual suspects from Ausssie
and odd bottles from various parts of the world.

Evans & Tate CS 1987 (sadly all gone) - I really got a taste for wine through drinking the dregs of this when I was a humble wine waiter. This sparked my interest and one thing led to another...
Armagh 98
Sono Montenidoli (single varital chianti hence no paper collar). I once spent a wonderful holiday at this vineyard. Many great memories are contained in this wine.
Ch. Moulin St Georges 1998 - I tracked down this producer in St Emillion after drinking it in a restaurant in London. Another quest I will never forget.
Ch. Cap de Merle 1996 - The wine from my wedding.
Wynn's Michael Shiraz 1996
...and my avatar 2000 Main Ridge.

Case of 1995 Esk Valley Terraces
seems to be almost immortal, have a couple left but every report i get from others indicates it still has years left in it.
its my favourite terraces actually, not as powerful as later vintages, but i kinda like the red fruited nature of the 1995s, and of course it was picked before the 1995 rains so isnt scarred! rare wine now

Tomorrow I take delivery of 3 bottles of Wirra Wirra Chook Block 2002 and 3 bottles of Kilikanoon M Reserve 2004, bought through Langtons last auction. They'll make very nice additions to a fairly new but growing collection for this warm climate shiraz nut.

I don't have a particularly large (300 odd) or diverse (99% Aus, 1% NZ) cellar, but I think I'm doing OK for someone who turns 25 in two weeks, and has only been into wine for a few years.
Some of the wines to look forward to:
Cape Mentelle Cabernet '95, '96, '02 and '03
Cullen DM Cabernet Merlot '94 and '98
Leeuwin Art Cabernet '00
Main Ridge Half Acre '98, '03 and '04
Mount Mary Pinot '96 and Quintets '82
Paringa Pinot '95 and '05, and Reserve Pinot '03 and '04
Bin 389 '96
Petaluma '90
Pipers Brook 'The Lyre' '99
Rockford BP Shiraz '89
Saltram Mamre Cab '96 and No. 1 '02
Stoniers Reserve Pinot '97
Yeringberg Pinot '99 and ''04 and Cabernet blend '04 and '05

Pinot '02 '04 '05, Cabernet '98 '03 '04, Chardonnay '99 '03 '04 '05
Freycinet Pinot '03
Tamar Ridge Pinot '98
Wynns JR Cab '92

Main Ridge Chard '04
Petaluma Hanlin '04 and Picadilly '03
Stonier Res. Chard '99
Yeringberg Chard '04
Noble One '02.
I've tasted a few of the wines in there and still have some left and most were amazing.
Some of the other gems I've enjoyed with family in the past:

Giaconda Pinot '93 and '94
Yeringberg '86

Had some good times though
Keep up the good work.

At 25 I was drinking bourbon, beer and playing sculling games to gooney juice (fruity lexica casks, why I don't know). Mind you it was always premium Bourbon and Beer. Wine unfortunately only grabbed me after 30. In hindsight, if only I started earlier too. Wow, the cellar I would have now. It is a very good start for 25 and a great range. I bet your a sandgroper too.

Define "Premium" beer. I'm (pretty much) only interested in drinking quality anything now. I think I've spoilt myself, D'oh.
Also what's a sandgroper?

Trumer Pils, Hoogarten and Carlsberg Elephant are examples of premium imported beers. Nice, too. Malt Shovel Brewery's James Squire and Little Creatures ranges are examples of Australian premium beers. Definition of premium beer? That's up to you.
Sandgropers are Western Australians.

i started wine at 25 too. ive still got some of the wines i bought in my first year or so - 94 goldwater, 95 coleraine, 93 st henri, 94 edelstone etc, 94 Amargh, 94 389 etc
it takes a decade to get depth in a cellar unless you spend your life at auctions buying other peoples cast offs. I havent been to an auction for nearly 7 years!

I pretty much live on Langtons these days, but only try and by stuff when it's a bargain. Otherwise I tell them they're dreamin'. Langton's gives me the chance to buy the rarer wines I couldn't find in other places, and enjoy some older wines too. It was good for me to find out if cellaring was actually worth it (it surely was), without having to wait 5-10 years.
As you can now see from my profile I am a Melbournite born and raised, although the prospect of living in WA is certainly more appealing these days.

Complete set of all the Wolf Blass platinum shiraz's 1998-2005 would be the gem in my albetit young cellar.
Add to that the 02 Hill of Grace, 02 Bin 707 Magnum, 81 Grange and 02 Wirra Wirra Chook Block Shiraz and that rounds out my top 5.
Notable mentions go to Magpie Estate - The Malcolm 2005, Two Hands Ares Shiraz 2005, Best's Thomson Family Shiraz 2004, Giaconda Warner Shiraz 2005 and Kalleske Johann Georg Shiraz 2005
Am also happy to say i have reached the 100 bottle in my quest for 1000, i gotta say, it started as 8 bottles, grew to 28 and now its 100 !!

Listen up. I think some clarification is warrented
Please stick to the gems from YOUR cellar, not the complete inventory of your cities largest wine shop
