1996 d'Arenberg The Custodian Grenache

Dry port, and pretty uninteresting. Will keep a few years yet. 85pts

1999 Vasse Felix Shiraz

Beautiful, complex cool-climate shiraz. Plenty of time in front of it. 94pts

1998 Charles Melton Shiraz

Still black, but lacks structure required for the long haul. OK. 88pts

Cracked a couple of the latest releases from d'Arenberg over the weekend

d'Arrys Original SHZ/Gren(2004) Good length and a lot better than previous releases. Picked up 6 on the strength of this bottle after consulting JOs ratings(17.7)

Footbolt SHZ (2004). Typical M/ Vale Shz which reflects the very good season. Again the best Footbolt I have tasted for many years.
