Would you say the same could occur wrt "freshness" in screwcapped wines (or indeed taint/oxidation under cork)? As I said, IMO we need to be wary of assuming bias or the power of suggestion in one direction and not the other.
I'm not a cork fan, but I don't want the argument to be fought from a biased perspective (on either side).

Bias is everywhere. A perspective is the view from where you are standing, in every sense.
Henschke Mount Edelstone 1994 mellow and integrated wine, good palate length, rounded but focused plum fruits. For me this is at its peak. Good drinking.
Penfolds Bin 389 1994 Dissappointing bottle, probably need more air time a bit confected and Gamay like. not a good example, other bottles far superior.
Grossett Polish Hill riesling 2003Excellent wine, a little more rounded than expected but good lime on palate, and refreshing acidity, again excellent length. Quality drinking.
Palon 2000This wasn't bad, don't know much about it ie. price point etc. Quite fruit forward lacks dryness of some , not sure how long this will go but lovely drink now.
Guigal Cotes du Rhone 2000drinking very well now, fully integrated, drink up, doubt it will get better. Good QPR. fruit has cleared up and lost the rhone dustiness.

1999 Willespie Shiraz - very good drop. Correct amount of oak and great fruit. Savoury, slightly spicy with white pepper undertones and well balanced acid. Very enjoyable and will peak in a few more years.
1998 Penfolds 389 - Not so enjoyable. Had it after the Willespie and was very disappointing (maybe a factor). No flavour balance. Couldn’t notice much oak and couldn’t enjoy anything about the wine in general. Noticed a bit too much acid and strangely almost tasted too green (young and confused). Has been kept in mate’s good cellar conditions so can’t be bottle shock. Has quite a few more and will try again bit later.
