My answer may have been otherwise brimming with wrongness, but the production run (3000 bottles) was right.

Sorry no disresepct taken if it were taken that way. When I made my reference to the 2250 litre vat, my think was not focussing on production run but the affect of the oak on the final wine.

Now, could quizmaster please confirm or otherwise the answer of the Tahbilk Special/Private Bin Dry Reds now known as the Tahbilk Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon? There are many aspects of this answer that are correct but I am still wondering given the Tahbilk website used the plural for number of casks - from http://www.tahbilk.com.au/about/flagship/: RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON - Tahbilk Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is selected from the most outstanding casks produced by the Estate from a particular vintage. Originally released in 1952 as "Special Bin", since the 1985 vintage an original Tahbilk label from the late 1800's has been adapted for these stunning wines.

Also, Tahbilk does not seem to highlight the Quizmaster quoted vintages as any greater than other vintages - http://www.tahbilk.com.au/vintage/ ... not that that really means anything.

I WANT TO KNOW! :)

...and yes, great questions.

I hope everyone had a great long weekend. The answer was Chateau Tahbilk Special Bin Dry Red. Well done to those who got it, Dipso being the winner.

The first release was in 1952 and depending on quality ranged between Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, until 1975 when Tahbilk commenced releasing the 1860 Vines Shiraz, thus ending the run of Special Bin Shiraz releases.

Top quiz, good fun.
The answer was in the back of my mind, but wouldn't step up to the plate!

God, i'm dumb- I must have close to 100 bottles of the stuff, and still didn't twig!!

I'll open an 84 this week to celebrate.

Yes quizmaster. Great quiz. I was thinking about the damn thing over the weekend. I thought it Mount Pleasant Vintage Port for a few seconds. I look forward to seeing if you can outdo yourself this week!
