What was the biggest surprise for you in JO's new Annual?

JO scores on new Mount Marys are 'the usual'. Incidentally, when the mailer does arrive, I'd appreciate if someone posted a note. Due to a botched address-change advice last year, my mailer would have been returned "not at this address". I wrote a letter a few months later begging to go back on the list, but I don't know if I've met with approval...

Yes; there are a number of American reviewers that don't fully understand the Australian Category and want/have a myopic view of what we produce. If you tell them what they need to hear rather than want they want to hear, (and that goes as much for the readers) they don't like it.

On the basis of the point scores, Giaconda's shiraz will be next. Mathematically, Steingarten riesling should be a '1' already - at least by his scores. He flagged in the text that Lakes Folly Chardy (of all things) was pushing a '1' as well, but I think Tyrrell's are unlucky not to have Vat 1 there already - 7 of the last 8 vintages have been 95, and the exception was a 96.

And, heretical as it is to say so, he must be allowing Hill of Grace a bit of latitude - at least on his scoring basis.

Good to see some major changes over scores and drinking windows of Wynns Black label too. I like to know the dates of his scores - I suspect many of them are over 10 years old (yes, seiously).

I don't think that regular 95s can elevate something to No. 1 - it has to be 96s.

Epis Pinot is probably close to a promotion too. Steingarten should be there already.

Haven't had the chance to get my hands on his 2006 Annual. The 2005 Annual was quite useful and did help guide me in a number of my purchases along with other information that I got from this forum and other places.

I guess I will have to ask my family to post me a copy.
