12 x 3 Oceans 2015 Explorer Margaret River Chardonnay. A good version of a modern chardy. Grapefruit and citrus and lightly oaked. Very glugable.

3 * Domaine Huards Cuvée François 1er 2010 (Romorantin)
3 * Pierre Menard Quart de Noels 2014 (Chennin)
2 * Bonhomme Cour-Cheverny (Romorantin)
2 * Ganevat Poulprix 2014 ( Vin de France blend of Mondeuse Savoie, Rhone Syrah and Jura Trousseau)
2 * Domaine de la Pepiere Cuvee 4 (Melon)

I know wine makers are always experimenting and so I hope a few winemakers out there are trying out Romorantin. Huards seem to make the best QPR version and the 2010 is the current release. Bonhomme makes the gorgeous "In Cot I Trust" and hopefully his Romorantin is as good.

The Chennin is from a Newish producer who has some very old vines (1920) - around 1000 bottles made, so might not make it over the water.

Loved the Ganevat Chardonnays, but its negotiant wines that have really caught my attention. Wierd stuff, but exciting.

Someone correct me If I'm wrong; I think the current vintange (2016) will be the first to be made all in SA. Was at Seppelt GW a couple of days ago and the place was like a ghost town :| All fruit had been picked and put on a truck bound for South Australia

Stock up on the VIC vinified stuff while you still can. It's never going to be the same after that long truck journey.

+1

And yes, IIRC it's the 2014 that's the penultimate vintage (not the 2013 incarnation I stated) and it's the 2015 that's the last Victorian made vintage as mentioned above.

Being from such a large corporate entity killed the romance of TWE brands before to a degree for me. Now they're all made in the same factory means I'm certainly not buying them again.

I buckled as well and grabbed 2. Hope it is as good as it's claimed as I rarely buy wine at that price unless I've tasted it first.

Hope you didn't pay too much for this wine. It, and other similar wines, have been constantly put onto the market for years. This particular one went for around $3PB at auction tonight.

Well done. I picked up the other two in that auction. Looking forward to seeing how good it is. Cellar tracker has rated it pretty well but on limited numbers.

Can't believe I overlooked these ! Make me cry. Tell me how little you paid! A very underrated wine in my experience and I've been adding the modern vintages to my cellar on occasion.

At ABaC in Barcelona ( 2 Michelin starred restaurant and accommodation) a few years ago, we had the sommelier present a mini-vertical back to 1978. The 1983 was excellent from memory and we visited the vineyard the next day for a tour and private tasting again of Mas La Plana.

There is another one going under the hammer in the current auction if you are interested. Although the starting bid has gone up $10. Good to see Mark Wickman getting the best for his sellers. ;)

That's about what we paid for it - bloody nice wine - particularly given the excellent cellaring. Have had some bottle variation - one or two stunning, others mostly very good.
Also bought 6 x Rockford BP/ Black Sparkling
