I was supposed to ease up on buying but it's an addictive drug.
8 x Grant Burge 2012 Filsell Shiraz. Now that the blockbuster high octane shiraz fashion has faded I need more Barossa shiraz in the cellar and this is just the ticket.
12 x Mellisa Block 2012 McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon.

I think you'll find the only one that has the 2013's in their possession is Roger

That's easy. Riesling is the best white grape, chardonnay the best white wine

That's what I thought. I shall wait patiently for the mailing list offer to arrive in my inbox. I had a near miss with Standish where I didn't receive the email offer. Hence my anxiety when someone says they've purchased a wine that's going to sell out fast that I thought hadn't been released yet.
What a unique drink wine is. Lowers stress when drinking it, but increases stress when buying it.

Strewth!
Should have pressed the "en primeur" button before listing the Marius - apologies, I just looked at a list of purchases in past few weeks and out the wines tumbled.
They are paid for, order confirmed, and shipping so soon I can smell them - so, August purchase, September delivery.
Apologies for the kerfuffle.

Correct, WILL be getting the wines, but not yet released ... should have them ready for September 1st release. (unless I drink them all myself, of course).

Does anyone else here think that this hobby might have become an Addiction? Every month I say to myself, ok, I just need to consolidate a bit and slow purchases. Then thru comes a wine deal, Wynnsday, the Wendouree Mailer or whatever. I am acquiring more than I can drink. Storage locker overflowing. Wife starting to give me strange looks as boxes pile up.
4x Wynns JR 2012
2x Wynns Michael Shiraz 2012
2x Wynns Childs CS 2012
12x Wynns Black Label CS 2013
6x All Wendouree Reds 2013

ahhh yes.
For me it always starts with a vintage report from a region or a winery.
Various articles telling me to 'go long' on 2012. Followed by '2013 is as good as 2012, if not better'!
It's the slow passing train metaphor. If i don't jump on now I might miss out.
At the moment I'm trying to pump the brakes a little. But then the Grosset Newsletter arrives!
Looks like another CD visit early September.
and so it goes on....

Addiction? It depends on your viewpoint. Whenever I'm asked this question, I like to refer to the Len Evans Theory of Capacity.
1. There is an awful lot of wine in the world, but there is also a lot of awful wine.
2. No sensible person drinks to excess, therefore any one person can only drink a certain amount in a lifetime.
3. There are countless flavours, nuances, shades of wine; endless varieties, regions, styles. You have neither the time nor the capacity to try them all.
4. To make the most of the time left to you, you must start by calculating your future total capacity. One bottle a day is 365 bottles a year. If your life expectancy is another 30 years, there are only 10,000-odd bottles ahead of you.
5. People who say: "You can't drink the good stuff all the time" are talking rubbish. You must drink good stuff all the time. Everytime you drink a bottle of inferior wine, it's like smashing a superior bottle against the wall. The pleasure is lost forever - you can't get that bottle back.
6. There are people who build up huge cellars, most of which they have no hope of drinking. They are foolish in over-estimating their capacity but they err on the right side and their friends love them.
7. There are also people who don't want to drink good wine, and are happy with the cheapies. I forgive them. There are others who are content with beer and spirits. I can't worry about everybody.
8. Wine is not meant to be enjoyed for its own sake; it is the key to love and laughter with friends, to the enjoyment of food, beauty and humour and art and music. Its rewards are far beyond its cost.
9. What part is wine of your life? Ten percentum: Ergo, 10 percent of your income should be spent on wine.
10. The principle should be applied to other phases of life. A disciple kissed a beautiful young lady and she demurred. He was aghast and said "Don't get the wrong idea.I've worked out I can only make love another 1343 times. I'm bloody sure I'm not wasting one on you".
A good reminder for those who have seen this before. Good advice for those that haven't.

Best marketing spin ever. Could be applied to bread, olive oil, beer, holidays, houses, etc., etc.

Ozzie, point 6 is the most pertinent for me.
Oh and when SWMBO pipes up, re lack of space, CC bills, cashola should be going on the house etc..
My reply is, 'think this bottle might be a good one...and if I was to share it, who is more important than you?'
Cheers
