3 x Penfolds Special Bin 90A 1990 ... will be hard to keep these unopened but all wisdom still seems to point at giving these 5-10 years more.

12 x 2000 Tahbilk "1933 Vines" shiraz
3 x 2010 Blue Poles Reserve Merlot
3 x 2011 Blue Poles Teroldego

I don't know quite where summer disappeared to this year. Not the riesling festival I had expected, and my mind is finding it hard to pay as much attention to the whites as I had hoped.

Cheers!

Pooley is a name to watch; they're wines will be getting better & better.

Eventually they're intending to make a shiraz again; their grapes made up a third of the Watson-winning Glaetzer wine the other year. They'll be no chardonnay though; given what TWE pay for their Yattarna-destined grapes now, they'd be losing money by bottling it themselves and trying to sell it.
GG

I visited Pooley back in November-ish of last year... I was very impressed with the wines having never encountered them before. Their pinots are top shelf and (for the quality) not unreasonably priced...

Nice call-out Graeme/Sam….im also a fan of this winery, really good cellar door too, which has back vintages available, something I always appreciate. Perhaps they’ll consider doing their own Chardonnay if/when their daughter returns from Heemskerk.

Fyi Graeme..last year bought a Pinot (09 I think?) which was covered in medals…a lovely wine which I drank too young, but certainly the medals made it taste even better ;-)
So perhaps even judges can get it right….sometimes..Lol!!

Sam, i've only being drinking the wines for a few years, but they seemed to have increased quite a bit in price since then. Still very good wines though. To be honest i cant remember exactly, but recall paying around mid $40s for the Estate/Reserve Pinot when i started. Now the Butchers Block is up to $60, with Reserve around $80.

Been on a long weekend trip to Hobart, Pooleys was definitely the standout. Butcher's block 09 was priced at 60 because yields was down to 1/3 as explained by the cellar door person. the 2010 vintage was selling at cellar door at $45, although further down the road at Wicked Cheeses, same Butcher's block 2010 pinot was selling for $38!
