Opps. Guilty of occassional lurking, but not posting for all of this year.

Recently picked up my bordeaux ep 2009s. Don't know if I should be pleased
or worried; RP march re-evaluation of scores has me owning two, hundred-pointer wines.
Leoville Poyferre and Pontet Canet. The balance "only" rate between 93 to 96.

More recent buys include CR '10 Sophia and Le Sol.
Te Mata '09 Awatea and Coleraine, and a couple of '10 Coleraine. Tasted the '10 TM releases at a
well known Takapuna retailer "showcase", and frankly struggled to be impressed by the whole range.
A bunch of '09 1er and GC red burgs from Anne Gros, Henri Boillot, de Courcel and several others
that don't spring to mind.
Te Whau vineyard on the market and selling off wine stocks; got some '08, '09 and '10 "The Point".

cheers jafa

Yes - have tried a couple of times and been very impressed - certainly on par with the prior 3 vintages. 2010 seems to have been a very good vintage for HB syrah, based on a sample comprising Craggy le sol and gimblett, Church Road Reserve, Stonecroft and Trinity Hill.

Cheers

You must be dying to try one of those 09 PC's Jafa. And you must be dying to have someone give you a second opinion :D May I offer my services free of charge!?! But seriously this is one wine id happily pay in to try anytime you feel the need...

I drank with much delight from 2 bottles of 10 Coleraine last week while on a work dinner. It was sensational. I think it has really come on in the last 6 months, just gorgeous. SO fine, elegant and refined. So agile, understated and classy. It made the 10 Craggy Syrah we downgraded to after that look very clumsy and obvious .

Did you get the te whau point ex vineyard?

Agree 10 Le Sol would be close to my wine of the year so far. It is magnificent

Mixed 6pack of the Twelftree wines range. A mixed 6pack of Michael Hall's range and a mixed 6pack of Tscharke's new Barossa Grounds Collection along with a couple of his Tscharke wines (Garnacha and Syrah). Also, finally got a bottle of 04 St. Henris that looks good.

Errr..... No. Not exactly. Just need to drink them before I die.
I'll give them a year or five before the corks come out. I've a good memory. I'll keep your generous offer in mind.
I haven't opened a 2005 PC yet. That will happen before the 2009's.

Craig(NZ) wrote:Did you get the te whau point ex vineyard?

Yeah. I went to the Waiheke Wine show last year (?), tasted a couple of vintages of the Point and picked up a Te Whau
newsletter. The newsletter had a ep offer at the back for 2010 vintage, so, (rather cheekily I thought) flicked off an
order and cheque, which arrived just pre last christmas. Then back in June an email arrived with the offer of the
three back vintages, so I jumped in. Sadly for you the offer ended 30 June, but, you never know .....if you contact them.

cheers jafa
