Sorry, know that this was an old tag but felt that I had to post a note as I have finally had a bottle of the 98 Seppelts GW reserve.
I agree with all comments about the oak....yes there was plenty of it!
Deep red at 14 years perfect cork and level, no evidence of browning at the edges.
Nose was rather oaky but lovely sweet fruit shining through
Palate was not overtly dominated by oak but yes sounding like a broken record...it was there but really good expession of shiraz with the most lovely fine tannins.
Decanted for 2 hours and had the last glass the next day which had really opened up.
I have 4 left and on the advice of the back label "drink over 15 to 30 years" will open another in 2018.
