Incredible amount of oyster/sea salt on the nose and palate which seems to dim slowly - what is this?

2nd bottle cracked and same result. Very offensive smell : bad oysters and soy sauce. Decanted with litlle relief.

How's the colour. Is it very dark/ opaque? Could be badly oxidized

You didn't by this as a case from a chinese restaurant by any chance?

The colour, to me, appears correct for its age - red/puple. Slightly cloudy. There is no brown apples or sherry characters that I would associate with oxidation. Spoke with Mountadam and they will assess a bottle if I send one over. Can't say Ive ever struck this b4.

The wine was purchased from Langton's in Melbourne.

sounds like its got something in common with the 98 Brokenwood Rayner, TN somewhere down the page. Yuk.

I have one in the cellar and cannot find (ie 2 lazy to go down more then 1 page for the TN). When tasted @ cellar door was really looking forward to this. Is this a one off or a general issue with this wine ?

I cracked two out of a case and both were the same, although one was slighlty worse. I have sent a third bottle off to the winemaker for assessment and will post the results soon.
