What I'm drinking (and enjoying) tonight

Beautiful limpid purple red with a black 'heart', this just looks like a real red wine! The nose is fascinating, unusual and different, beetroot, a touch of boot polish, a hint of meatiness, a touch of herbs, some nutmeg and cinnamon, turkish delight and exotic spices. Palate is a wonderful counter point, plushly ripe tannins on the finish, velvetty and smooth, but such tannins, finishes with long and dry liqorish tinted tannins. In between, its a plush, super intense but balanced mouthful of chocolate orange, plum, spicy berry and blackberries ... then those internse Italianate type dry tannins come into play. Love it, love it ... what will it become with time in the cellar, well, I'm in for the long haul to find out!

My variety has one particularly distinctive trait.
I am also grown in a number of regions in Australia, King Valley, Barossa, McLaren Vale, Kangaroo Island, Granite Belt.
I have considerable aging potential - up to 50 years.
My country of origin has thousands of years history experimenting and breeding me.
There are also many hundred varieties of me.
I am used to produce both sweet and dry table wines.

I love Saperavi. I think I still have a few 2002 Symphonia's.

Never been far away Gavin, 'pop in' every now and then to see what's happening, just no time these days to put questions together - perhaps in retirement!
