My +1 is out and my initial decision to bring pinot noir is out too I think, looking at the menu. I'll have a fossick through the stash and see what I can come up with. Possibilities are:

St Hallett Old Block Shiraz 1990
Penfolds Bin 389 1990
Mt Mary Quintet 2000
D'Arenberg Dead Arm 1998
Seppelt Great Western Shiraz 1995 (now St Peters as I understand)

If any of those pique anyone's interest, let me know.

Hi All

Looks like thelist will be:

Mark - 1998 Wendouree Shiraz Mataro + 1999 Lovedale Semillon
Sparky - 1996 Cuvee Victoria + chardonnay
Phill
Tonsta - 2002 Elderton Command.
Ian - 1982 Wynns Black Label CS 1.5L magnum, 1986 Noble One (750ml)
Wayno - 2006 LEAS
George - 2000 Mt Mary Quintet
Chuck - 2000 Jack Mann
Steve - 1995 Armagh
John - 1999 Stonewell
Jeff - 1991 Wendouree Shiraz

It woud be great if anyone who has not done so recently can confirm their attendance either by PM to me or by posting on the board.

George, my vote woud be for the Dead Arm now that Ian is not bringing his. If anyone has any preferences between the 1998 Wendouree Shiraz Mataro or the 1993 Wendouree Cab Malbec pls let me know.

Cheers

Mark

George (and others),

The Mt Mary might be a good comparison with the Jack Mann of the same vintage (bit of a taste off !).

But all the wines look interesting so great line-up George :)

There's still a chance I might be taking a Dead Arm if the 1982 Wynns CS doesn't come up (probably a 1998 750ml if I can't retrieve the 2000 magnum from the cellar) and to be honest I'm not exactly confident given the past history of these particular magnums. I'm also now planning taking a '70s VP instead of the Noble One because of the cheese course to finish with instead of a dessert (any details of the cheeses Mark, something like say a cheddar, blue & brie with brioche?)

My personal preference would be either the 2000 Mount Mary Quintet (could be an interesting comparison to the Jack Mann as Tony has said) or the 1995 Great Western Shiraz (as a contrast to the Clonakilla SV & Elderton Command).

Cheers,
Ian

OK, now we've nearly sorted the important stuff like food & booze, if anyone will be travelling from or through Glenelg and is interesting in sharing a cab and saving me from having to direct the cab driver to where I don't know where I'm going, send me a PM! :)

If you're near the tram line at Glenelg that's probably an easy way in Moira - get off in the city at the Railway Station/Casino stop, walk across the road with the lights at the pedestrian crossing, head up Bank Street (in the same direction), go across the lights at Hindley Street and and you're at Leigh St with Cos just up a bit on the LHS:

Having never tried a Mt Mary Quintet It would be good to try it up against the Jack Mann.

I've got a few of the Quintet and it seems a popular choice so put me down for that, 2000 vintage.

You da man!!

Some great wines to be had... and food. Anyone bringing a VP? If not and if required I've got some not too shabby Seppelts stuff from the mid 80's. Sparky?

Chuck, as previously mentioned, I'm not going anywhere near a VP, so I don't care what you bring!

At this stage I'm taking the little tacker up to the Barossa on Friday to pat a few winery dogs, so I have to be in a fit state to drive :)

I'll probably bring a 91 Wendouree Shiraz. If that fits ok.

I just got a PM from Josh that he has to drop out due to a clash with a family dinner organised by his wife that she didn't tell him about.

My potential extra two to four people are interested again, and they should give me an answer tomorrow if that's okay.

Thanks for organising this Mark. It's shaping up as a classic night. The wines look fabulous and I feel like a kid in a lolly shop! I might just think of taking Friday off.

I'm still in, with a '95 Armagh.

Unfortunately I'll be arriving closer to 7 than 6:30, but hopefully still on the 6:30 side! I have to attend a dive club meeting to sort out the final details for the Easter 4 day trip... if I don't go to the meeting I can't get my dive on over Easter

Edit: The dive club stuff has been sorted out - I don't need to go there any more. I'll be at Cos on time, providing no issues with a taxi.

Nice looking lineup guys and gals, wish I was in ADL!

How come sparky gets off so lightly without a classification Langtons wine?? Surely a Bin 389 at the very least Moira! :D

Phil

I have added a 1999 Lovedale to my Wendouree, so don't feel obligated to go with a white. We probably have whites covered now in any event with a sparkling and a chardonnay from Sparky, a LEAS and the aforementioned semillon.

Cheers

It's a brave person who walks up Bank St and crosses Hindley St in the dark....alone. If you're not there by 7 Sparky we'll understand and send out the search party and call the cops. At least there's a police station close by on Hindley St..... I wonder why? Hopefully the bottle will be OK.

Yeah, it's not daylight saving anymore and getting dark about that time now - maybe it's not such a good idea.

I thought Seven was at Glenelg and you could have shared a cab that way, but he's not coming in now. :(

Sorry Moira and Ian. I was only joking. Adelaide is pretty safe at night particularly in the CBD. Well lit and plenty of people particularly at that time of day. Maybe to be really safe get off the tram on King William St and walk down either Hindley of Currie to Leigh St.

Most of the bad stuff happens in the burbs and rural areas. Isn't SA supposed to be the murder capital capital of Australia? A bit of an exageration although we have had some interesting stuff in recent years... Again mostly in rural areas.

looking at the list i think a 1985 Tahbilk 1860 vines might be nice fit or a 1999 Parker Estate 1st Growth
my other choices are 1994 Charles Melton Nine Popes Magnum or 1985 Wolf Blass Black Label Magnum.

any preferences?
