1976 Morris Vintage Port, Rutherglen VIC

Post by morph_associates »

Opened this just before with family, absolutely divine. Don't know the ABV - not on label - presume this was before labelling laws came in... exciting.

Lovely wine, great cork that held up well.
Round, rich and luscious with chocolate, mocha, plum, currant and black fruit notes overtoned by Merlot-like spices.
80% Shiraz, 20% Bastardo.

Fantastic wine and in my opinion it will continue to age (cork quality pending) for another two decades yet. Plenty of acid to keep it going. Great warmth, so I'm guessing it was around 20-21.5% ABV.. haven't got a clue though really.

Yum. That is all.

I love to read about old bottles drinking well. A 34 year-old VP from Australia! The kind of thing, like the 1982 Riddoch mentioned in another post, that could jump-start sales of quality Australian wine. Thanks for the notes.

Cheers.................Mahmoud.
