6 x 2004 Penfolds Bin 389
6 x 2006 Penfolds Bin 389
6 x 2006 Tahbilk Shiraz
6 x 2006 Tahbilk Cab Sav

I know I've said it a few time this year, but that is it. It's over! I'm done for the year!(unless the 2006 Yalumba Signature is very good I may get 6 of those too, but then nothing more!)

A couple from Langtons...

1x 2003 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue Musigny Cuvee Vieilles Vignes
1x 2004 Gaja Sperss Barolo

If it weren't for connection problems in the last 10 minutes, would probably have picked up a quite a few more...

Some 2001 Châteauneufs: Beaucastel, Clos des Papes, Pegau. Love the vintage, and no more expensive (sometimes less) than 2007s.

Redwine where are you getting all this German gear with the bottle age? I'm guessing you're not based in Australia.

For me:

A few more 08 JJ Prum rieslings includng the Graacher Himmilreich Goldkapsel
Rockford Black Shiraz has turned up
Joseph sparkling Shiraz has also turned up (mmmmm, Sparkling Shiraz at Christmas...)
Some 09 Ata Rangi Pinots
Some 09 Felton Road Pinots and '10 Rieslings
08 Bouchard whites have finally arrived (not bought in Australia)

Need some more white bubbles...

cheers

Andrew

Sorry - the 2008. I went 6 of the 06 and 6 of the 07 but I reckon the 08 could be a cracker based on the three tastes I have had so far so I went for 12.

Agree with you here Michael. The 08 black label is far superior to the 07.

Andrew, you are right, I live in Switzerland. Most of the German wines I bought from a friend who shifted more towards red wines, so I was able to get some of these nice Rieslings. I see you do enjoy them as well, it's truly great stuff.

Cheers.

How's the 09 Ata Rangi? Off to NZ next week and I need to know where to spend my Pinot dollars...

For me, among other things:
- Mixed case of Mike Press. We always need drinkable Pinot that doesn't break the bank, so six of those and three each of the Shiraz and Cabernet. Still waiting for that, Gavin, if you're reading
- 2x 2010 Charles Melton Rose of Virginia. Summer's (finally) coming, will be stocking up on the roses...
- 2x 2008 Wynns Black Label Cabernet. Not tried this so far so given the excellent reviews I'm easing my way in bit by bit.
- Also about to pull the trigger on a mixed case of Vasse Felix. 2x 2007 Heytesbury red, 4x 2008 Cabernet, 2x Black Knight (sparkling red), 2x Cane Cut Semillion, 2x 2009 Semillon.

Loztralia,

The '09 Ata Rangi is reputed to be darn good. It's a buy for me every year if I can find it--it's sometimes tough here in the U.S. Got to try the '09 Dry River, that's an awfully nice Pinot too (bottled last week, I think). One to pick up when it is released. The '09 Dry River Chard looks great (finishing off the remains of a sample bottle now), and don't miss the 2010 Dry River Viognier if you can find any (just expect a bit of residual sugar).

I like the Vasse Felix wines; sure you won't be disappointed in those.

Cheers,

Joe,

For my money Vasse Felix summed up the general awesomeness of Margaret River at the recent Langton's classification tasting. Among the best wines Australia has to offer I'm not sure I wouldn't pick the WA gear as the absolute high point. I'd certainly say that at cA$30 Vasse Felix Cabernet is one of the best bargains to be had - easily 10 years and more in that.

Tried one last weekend undecanted - I found lots of berries and spice from memory, very typical cool climate CS. Approchable young and I don't think it will improve much with age. It didn't have a great deal of depth but enjoyable. I did feel the effects of the preservatives the next day - we only had about 2 glasses each.
