Lindemans Cawarra Claret 13 FL OZ

Post by Craigr »

Hi,
I have a very limited wine knowledge, but was given a small bottle of Claret the other day and was wondering if it was any good. It's label reads - Selected Bottling Cawarra Claret Lindemans Wines Pty Ltd Sydney 13 FL OZ. Produce of Australia Lindemans. That is all that is written on it.
If anyone can tell me if it is going to be any good or not, it would be most appreciated.
regards
Craig

Hi Craig and welcome!

I suspect that no one can tell you for sure without actually trying it!! No year listed on it?? Interesting. So how old is it, how has it been stored, was it a good wine to start with etc etc, all these factors are unknowns, as is the taste.

How about you open it over dinner and give it a try with some friends or family..... Good luck!

Cheers

I think a little more information is required.
A year would be great along with how it has been stored.
If you don't know then how full is the bottle?
In all likelihood it would be stuffed. Crack it with tonight's dinner and try it. Make sure you have another bottle of something on standby.

Thanks for the replies Guy's. There is no year on the bottle. The level has not dropped at all. The seal is intact except for a small piece which exposes a cork that is not red. So I am guessing it has been stored well. I think it is old. An elderly lady gave it to me and I know nothing about it, she does not know how she came about it. I tried to send a photo but the administrator blocked it.

Cheers Craig

Craig

I think you could sell it on Langtons - some collectors pay ridiculous amounts for old wines and this one sounds pretty rare

cheers
