If I go to the site, and do a search for "Chablis", there is nothing found.
Also, if I do a search for "Domaine William Fevre", still nothing is found.

This is an offer via .pdf
None of these wines are on the web site, nor will stock available make it likely they will make it there!

Hard to find Gav! Board Index, Bottom right, Jump To.... Buying Wines....
Hang on that's weird, the archived notes didn't appear before in the main board index, but they do now... ah well.

Thanks TiggerK wouldn't have found it otherwise.

Yes
Well, pretty concerned not to make the auswine forum appear like
my advertising board
Besides, don't you appreciate more the things you have to work for a little?

Ok, that was seriously ridiculously hard to find. Gavin, I think you need to spend a little more time working on the Aus Wine Centre website. I know some guys who could really sex up the site, make things eaiser to find and perhaps actually use the site to sell the stuff. Still a good offer given the Decanter July issue has a feature section on 2008 Chablis.

Oh, on their site, or do you subscribe? Any of my guys on there (probably not, they are little obscure producers!)?
NB: I import wine from 100 boutique producers in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, NZ and SA. You may think my opinions are biased ;-) As opinions are :-)

Dear Gavin
I can only speak for myself, but I think you should put your infrequent posts with special offers on the main board (and skip the "ignore if you aren't interested" bit). Title them Auswine Special Offer - Head Wines, or something. Even make it a sticky.
I appreciate that you want to keep the forum mainly about the forumites and their wines/experiences/blather, but I think you should unapologetically post the odd special here and there, particularly when they are wines like the Head range (definite forumite material - do yourselves a favour etc.).
I get probably 2-3 emails a day from various bottleshops and wineries and I am happy to look at them. I see no reason why they shouldn't appear on All About Wine.
My 2c
Michael

Gavin,
I wholeheartedly endorse Michael's thoughts.
I'd actually like to see your offers given more prominence. If I'd have been aware of the Spinifex offer, I'd have committed budget to it. As it was, I didn't spot it until it was too late.
My 2c as well!
cheers,
Via Collins.

+1 for me also. Happy to hear of any good opportunities.

Re: short commercial message - please ignore if not interest
Hello
My thanks for your thoughts, appreciated.
However, I really do not wish to advertise all over the forum. The auswine forum has been active 10++ years, and spamming, or direct advertising posting is, quite rightly, frowned upon, and I do not want to start … whether it is my forum, or not, its just not necessary, or appropriate.
However, there are great opportunities for both auswine, and the forum members, in purchasing wine. Clearly there is benefit to me, and as can already be seen, there are many many offers and wines available that many of you would be interested in.
There are many others you have not even seen yet, like Grosset Offers, Greenock Creek offers, Glaetzer premium offers and much much more.
But much further than that, there would be great opportunities for members to use the forum, and auswine, with wine purchasing. Clearly virtually all forum members buy wine, usually regularly. There are many ways and opportunities for us to work together, to mutual benefit.
Naturally, no one expects you to purchase wines that you can get elsewhere cheaper, I cannot match Dan Murphy's after all. However, what I can do is assist anyone with
Hard to find wines
Imported Wines
Wines not readily available
And much more. I already do this, finding and obtaining wines direct from small producers for customers who ask … recently I have got wines in from
Small Gully Wines
Plunkett Fowles
Arrivo Wines
Amongst others. Simply ask!
Interested in
2009 Beaujolais, Grower Champagnes, German Rieslings, ask as all are readily available to me, and hence to you.
In short, we could all use the 'Buying Wines' forum together to be a great resource to you?
Even, if a number of people were all interested in the same wine/producer, we could get together and make a larger 'group' purchase, saving money, getting good allocations, and securing some terrific wines.
Now these are all just ideas, but I would love to give the 'Buying Wines' forum area a much higher profile, and really make it something of great benefit and use to all members.
Any and all thoughts valued and appreciated?
Naturally, almost doesn't need saying, but I will, of course, all of the above are of value to me, as a retailer, hence a vested interest, but could also be a great and valued resource for you all?
Discussion open?

Hi Gavin
I appreciate that. I just thought that the odd "Check out the new special on Head Wines in the Buying Wines section" wouldn't constitute spam. You seem to only put specials up there every couple of months. Your forum so do as you wish!
The collective buying idea is great though.
Cheers

I'm with him. Gav, don't be shy and principled. it's your business and without you we wouldn't be here. Whilst the delete button is always at the ready on emails I will always be interested in anything, particularly from you. Thanks gov.

I can't see anything wrong with a "Auswine Special Offer" sticky. People who want to look at it can, those who don't, ignore it. I think we all appreciate the resources you commit to provide the forum and understand that you are not a charity. 1 opinion, Geoff
