I'm in the same boat.
Last time I missed out would have been about 6-7 years ago as well.
Didn't have a red crayon mark either, which is the first time in a long time. Can't remember not having one.

I did not have the red crayon. Like Roscoe, this was the first time I was without a red crayon mark....

Fear not guys; I hadn't heard anything until today, then my full allocation arrived this morning. No crayon on the order form. I think they just have LOTS of wine to deliver each year, and it takes them a while to get through the orders.

Just received my shipment this morining. From Sydney. No marks on ordering form. 6 X Shiraz and 6 X Cab Malbec. 1st time I got my full order.

Receipt and letter from Wendouree. No marks on ordering form. Received 6 x shiraz, 6 x Sh Malbec, 6 x Shiraz mataro. I did not receive my full order, but that is probably just as well!
Some of the shiraz mataro and shiraz malbec that I have drunk over the last couple of years have been sensational, almost my pick of the wines.

The Wendouree god moves in mysterious ways. I suspect that it was Sydney's turn to be processed last, as mine arrived yesterday.
As for the other question, has anyone tasted it yet, I'll probably let them all age before I taste them.
I have recently started on some of my 2004s, the shiraz malbec and shiraz mataro, and both were great, with the shiraz mataro being the pick of them.

For what it is worth, here are my quick thoughts...
2008 Wendouree Malbec: Masses of ripe red berries and fruits of the forest. Intense. Wood spice (every Wendouree has this). Darker purple characters. Savoury. Rich, ripe, controlled middle palate underpinned by abundant, crunchy tannins. Full/medium bodied. Great line and focus to a long finish with dry wood spice and integrated acid.
- 2nd night: rich forest fruit. Fruit tannin. Smooth, fine acid is refreshing but is well integrated and continues to provide great length.
- 3rd night: Raspberry liquorice. Greater palate depth and richness.
- 4th night: more savoury, meaty aspects. Depth still great and power still impressive, but it was best on the 3rd night.
Best after 10 years. 95/100.
2008 Wendouree Cabernet Malbec: Pure and powerful core of blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry with purple, floral fruit, mint and a sprinkle of herbs. Long with richness to the structure. Smooth and masses of sculpted tannins. Always tight but fruit intensity on the first day makes it a joys, with the structure showing more on the second day and gaining grip from then on, although the latent fruit power is always present in the background.
Best after 15 years. 96/100.
2008 Wendouree Shiraz Malbec: Tight for days although not too gripping for the fruit to shine through over the 3 days it was open. Doesn’t have the power of the Cabernet Malbec on the back though.
Best after 10 years. 93+/100.
2008 Wendouree Shiraz Mataro: Great drink on the first day, then loses a bit of tightness afterwards.
Best after 7 years. 92/100.
Oh, and I though the 2006 Muscat of Alexandria was excellent if you are familiar with the Wendouree sweetie, don't chill, drink like the lightly fortified that it is, style.
I will probably open the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon soon, as I recently opened the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon and was mightly impressed (95/100). I typically hang on to the Shiraz, but I can be swayed by house guests!

And just my opinion, but the relative quality of the shiraz malbec and shiraz mataro seem to change year to year, although I have not looked back at my notes to see if one is more consisnet than the other.
Also, if you have multiple bottles of any of the Wendourees, I recommend that you open at least one early as their magic is there to be enjoyed.

Great notes, thanks Adair. I will have a crack at a few. In the past, I have found that they are just too closed for me to enjoy very young (the shiraz in particular, with the Cab Malbec being less of a problem), but I have perhaps not left them open for long enough before drinking.

Nah...
1) I reckon I enjoy them most straight from the bottle or within 20-30 minutes while the fruit is there to shine as many seem to close down...actually, some open and some close.
2) Everyone's palate is different - e.g. I typically find the Cab Malbec the most structured and tight
3) I know that I enjoy studying tannins and their qualities more than most, and that for most people would find many tannic wines that I enjoy overbearing.
You either enjoy the style or don't... or you will learn to enjoy it!

Your notes are much appreciated. I tried an early 2004 Shiraz and found it great after the 3rd day - I imagine the 2008 will be the same. I've also found the cabernet's and the cab blends seem to hold the berry fruit seemingly forever where the shiraz and blends develop an incredible complexity after about 12 years.
