Bookshops in Sydney

Post by darby »

I'm off to Sin City later this month. Can any Sydneysiders tell me if there is any good wine/food specialist bookshops in the cbd inner area?

Try Kinokuniya. They don't so much specialise in food/wine, but just seem to have every book known to man (except for the one I was looking for when I was there!).

They are pretty much across the road from the Queen Victoria Building in the Citigroup building.

I'll assume you are aware of Ultimo Wine Centre. Their range of wine related books is the best one I know of. Dymocks in George Street have been running signings of Halliday's Companion for a few years now, so they should have a few other wine books.

My mistake... I thought you were looking for a bookshop with wine rather than about it. ;)

Regardless, I still recommend Berkelouw Books (http://berkelouw.com.au/) to answer your question... The one in Paddington is the closest to the CBD. They've listed 1000 odd books on food & wine amongst endless other topics (and lots of rare, antique and specialty books - many of which are kept in storage outside of Sydney in the southern highlands).

And of course ........ as mistakenly mentioned previously, their jazz/wine bar (http://www.berkelouwwinebar.com.au/) is very nice if you venture out to the Leichardt store. ;)

Cheers
