Ok, I've sourced an 04, so we're looking like this:

1991 - {only 150 cases made and all sold out years ago. I would expect only the winery has any ? I hear John Hawkesby is a Terraces fan ?! }
1992 - Sue (hopefully)
1994 - Curt
1995 - Craig
1998 - Mel
2000 - Jafa
2002 - Peter
2004 - Bick
2006 - Cliff
Cheers,
Mike

Hey, this thing is on for the 11th April right? I don't see how you are going to get to the 150 odd posts that the SRL tasting generated.

Sounds like a treat guys, have a great one.

8) It did occur to me in all seriousness, to ask someone like him, or maybe BC or someone well known/rich with a big cellar, but the problem would be, if they had no '91, how would you uninvite them again?

I am soooo envious of this offline. I wish I could attend.

I bought the 92 vintage when I was studying wine at EIT in 1994 for the princly sum of $60 per bottle, which at the time was a huge price compared to most others on the market. Between me and my brother, we have now collected every vintage since and they are sitting there at my brothers in Auckland although he does take a bit of a free reign on these. We had a couple of bottles of the 92 last time I was in NZ and it is travelling very very well.

If this offy had been a little later in the month I would have flown over especially for it.

I look forward to reading the notes on this one. Have fun..

Glen

Terraces was one of the first serious reds i bought when i got into wine. I can remember buying 2 of my 1995 vintage for $49!! Those were the days! New Zealand now seems just moving into the period where we can put together worthwhile size verticals of some amazing wines which include years where NZ got its act together with reds.

The Stonyridge Larose vertical was sensational. Hopefully Terraces will again cement this style of get together as a "repeat needed" event

I have put a few emails out to some of my wine "contacts" to see whether we can land a 1991. Don't really like my chances but would be remiss of me not to exhaust a few avenues.

Probably a good idea if you people can do the same. There could be a 6 pack gathering dust in the cellar of a man who needs some money or an invite somewhere!!

Hi. I understand Sue is out of town with the MG club ... she had indicated to me she is not sure if she has the wine and that she is not so keen on attending now .
I am still in with a 94.

Final Arrangements

Post by Craig(NZ) »

Ok people. Looking forward to this now!! It may end up we are missing a couple of vintages, but more than likely they will be the ones no one has anymore/ can obtain anymore anyway. As such it is little more than academic. Any Sunday lunch with even one bottle of Terraces is special!!

I have booked La Bocca's private function room

CONFIRMED DETAILS

Sunday April 11th 11:30am
La Bocca
251 Parnell Road
Parnell
Auckland
Cost $65 plus one bottle of Terraces
(Pete aware your wife is attending with you up from wellington all sweet - maybe she could bring a nice white as a starter or something)

Please confirm your spot as listed in previous email asap so I know exact number when i confirm.

I have booked from 11:30am for a leisurely trip through these wines and to make it friendly for those needing to work in Hamilton the next day. The format wont be formal vertical but will be structured in a way that those who like taking notes can. I would imagine <> we will pour a pair of wines at a time and slowly work our way through with the three courses

Cost will be $65 which includes the $60 set menu below and $5 corkage + free room hire. Most of the menu choices look very compatable with the Terraces style of wine! Set menu just makes things really simple and easy to handle for all.

Set Menu - $60

Selection of Starters

Bread and dips A selection of fresh Italian bread and dips
Antipasto A selection of Prosciutto, Salami, Pancetta, Salsiccia, marinated salmon, olives, cheese, pickles and Bruschetta
Bruschetta Pomodoro Grilled Italian bread, topped with tomato, garlic, basil and extra virgin olive oil

Choice of Entrees

Cozze Green lipped mussels steamed in white wine, onion and garlic and lemon juice
Salmone Marinato Homemade marinated salmon, herbs crêpe fettuccine, basil pesto, shaved Parmesan and lemon dressing
Tortellini al Gorgonzola Fresh chicken tortellini in a creamy blue cheese and Brandy sauce

Choice of Mains

Gamberoni Gratinati Gratin of pan fried king prawns with garlic, white wine, fresh and sun dried tomatoes on saffron risotto
Scaloppine al Marsala Veal escalope, sautèed in a creamy Marsala sauce, with potato purèe and roasted vegetables
Filetto Di Manzo Premium beef eye fillet, grilled and topped with truffle pâté sauce. Served on roast veges
Stinco di Agnello Braised lamb shanks with vegetables, herbs and red wine on potato purée

all good, and naturally if anyone wants to order a la carte different to set menu, i'm sure they can organise. no big deal. set menu was just suggested for ease of settlement but that need not be the be all and end all. other set menus exist too...google their website

Ok, the final countdown. I will ring the restaurant tomorrow and confirm that we plan set menu for 7 people:

Peter's Mrs, Craig, Mel, Jafa, Peter, Bick, Cliff

with Curt to order as he sees fit on the day.

8 attendees in total.

If Sue ends up surfacing i'm sure that will be no issue adding one. See you in the weekend guys!

Thanks Craig. Looking forward to it.

By the way Jafa, I see that my attempt to reply to your PM is still sitting in my Outbox rather than Sent folder, so assume you've not seen it -- just saying that I'll bring the '00 & leave the '02 to you.

Cheers

Your fault Craig: you were far too decisive with the venue. I managed to prevaricate for ages on the venue for the SRL tasting. :P
