Monghead, I get this mainly from auctions but also from shops or private people. I do a lot of shopping around and have my eyes open when I visit new cities or villages.

Very excited as the Boireann wines over deliver every year. I am starting to get a good line up for a vertical of The Lurnea for my 40th in 2015. Anyway I'm looking forward to drinking the Merlot Petit Verdot while waiting for the others to evolve. Though I must admit I am also very excited about trying the first release of their Pinot Noir. I'd be keen to hear from any others if already tried these new releases.

Just out of curiosity, how does anyone manage to maintain the quality of such a varied lineup of grapes (Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Barbera, Shiraz, Tannat, Mourvedre, Nebbiolo and now Pinot Noir) in a single climate condition?

Good question, as one would think that they need very different conditions.
The few Granite Belt wines I have tasted have been shocking; spineless, blousy, watery things which are not fit for drinking (except in an emergency).
However, Halliday speaks very highly of these wines, and is positive about each wine that he reviews (and his reviews cover quite a few varieties).

I think this is my favourite kiwi pinot at present. I picked up 3 x 04 from the Max Lake auction a while back and finished the last bottle about a month ago. It was a superb wine. A wonderful depth of flavour with earthy dried wild mushroom flavours and strawberries. Yummmmm.

Don't know whether it is available everywhere, it should be, its Penfolds who are offering it.
Basically, if you buy over $120 worth of qualifying Penfolds wines (which include any of the Bin series, Thomas Hyland shiraz, or Koonunga Hill, and probably some others, and must include at least 2 from the Bin series), you can buy a VIntec 40 bottle wine fridge which retails for $599 for $100, plus $50 delivery.
This is an indication of just how hard they are finding to maintain their retail price.

I still believe the 94 Goldwater could be the longest living NZ wine I have ever tried. I am looking forward to dining at te Whau at my earliest excuse, I note they have this on their wine list at a fair price.
Lunching at Te Whau on Friday, so just might try this, though there's plenty of other interesting older & reasonably priced wines on the list (I see though that the online wine list is dated May '08, so may not be all that current ... )
Had a $180 budget for a case of wine and ended up buying

I have just tasted and ordered the new 2007 Kabminye Durif, Carignan Shiraz and the 2008 Kabminye Hubert Shiraz. Sensational wines which are being featured at a special dinner at Mantra restaurant in Adelaide at the end of the month.
Also purchased some Alpha Box and Dice Changing Lanes - Tempranillo Cabernet. Primo Angel Gully Shiraz Bleasdale Tempranillo Malbec

Glad to see you got some 08 SRL, Craig. You may be interested to hear that in the quarterly newsletter I received on friday they are suggesting that 09 will be just as good as 08, as it turned out to be one of their best/driest growing seasons - you may want to start saving for that too.
Climb was good. Did fanthams peak in glorious clear weather which held all day and for the next days trip down too. Will post a picture. Lugged up a bottle of 07 Carrick Pinot which was very much savoured that evening (even if out of plastic cups). Then did ngauruahoe, red crater and urchin in the kaimanawa's over the following 2 days before hitting the hawkes bay wineries.
