Wow ! What luck, I picked these up from a local auction (no not mine). They were listed as worth $9-$12. I knew that they were at least worth quite a bit more than that and eventually I ended up paying $30 each. Anyway, the levels of all of were a little down, so a bit of a concern, but I took one to dinner to try alongside Paella made with Prawns, fish and bugs. On opening the cork was very crumbly and quite bit got into the wine, only to be strained out into a glass. Not actually thinking that this wine would be any good we were all very suprised at what sharp golden colors were present in our glasses, not something you would expect from a 25 year old reisling. Oh, what a nose... lingering flavours of honey, pear, toast and marmalade. Sipping it revealed a wonderful complex and interesting palate of honey, melons and quite zesty lime. It went absolutely brilliantly with the Paella and was definately the wine of the Night.. I am so glad I have 2 more bottles left
Cheers

Southcorp were selling these to staff for $3 a bottle in 1997 when they cleaned out the cellars at Karadoc, managed to get two cases, drank them all since then, fantastic wine
Hail and well met! My old 486DX2 wasn't quite up to this level of sophistication. But there's nothing like a new PC and a 25 year old LB to bring me out of the wilderness.
I did come accross an earlier vintage of this wine at J** M****y's (Hi, Gavin!) a few years back. The price was less than a dollar per year of cellaring. It left me feeling like a prince! (The higher titles being reserved for the effects of red wines, of course!)

And much as Wine has play'd the Infidel,
And robbed me of my Robe of Honour â€â€Well,
I often wonder what the Vintners buy
One half so precious as the ware they sell.
