Winemaker signed bottles

Post by ross67 »

A couple of threads from the mid-week drinking topic showed DJ & Kris both having signed bottles of the '96 Fox Creek Reserve Shiraz from the wine maker himself.

Got me looking at some of mine.

My only bottle i have is a '94 Coriole Lloyd Reserve signed by Mark Lloyd.
I guess its not worth much more in value but adds a nice touch when approaching the wine.

Has anyone got more to add???

I've got lots of signed cookbooks but that was the only wine bottle I think. I know there's a few pennies floating around signed by Max Schubert but I don't own them.

I'll be keeping that Fox Creek bottle though. They must have done it at the winery as I didn't get it signed myself. When I opened the six pack, it was signed so it was a nice surprise at the time.
Cheers,
Kris

I have to admint I've accumulated a few bottles with signatures over the years, not that I specifically seek them out...

1975 Wolf Blass Bilyara VP - signed by Wolf Blass, Colin & Ben Glaetzer,
1986 Wolf Blass Black Label magnum - signed by Wolf Blass,
1996 Saltram Mamre Brook Cabernet magnum - signed & numbered by Nigel Dolan,
2002 & 2003 Dutschke St Jackobi magnums - signed & numbered by Wayne Dutschke,
1996 Mt Langi Ghiran Langi Shiraz magnum - signed by Trevor Mast,
2000 Leconfield Cabernet magnum - signed by Paul Gordon at the instore where they were giving them away with dozen purchases.

Also, when my 1980 & 1990 Penfolds Bin 707 magnums were passed at the 2006 Penfolds clinics, the clinic labels were signed by Steve Lienert.

I think the coolest thing I've seen was a Pro Hart vintage port of Murray's signed by Pro, with his trademark dragonfly painted on the back of the bottle. 8)

Cheers,
Ian

I won the options wine at a Torbreck degustation dinner last year. The prize was a bottle of 'The Factor' and I had Dave Powell sign it.

I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.

2006 Jimmy Watson winner signed by John Davey
Chardonnay: A drink you have when there is no RED wine, the beer hasn't arrived and the water may be polluted

n4sir,

I think that Pro Hart bottle is one of the few where the value would be significantly increased by the signature. I quite like the dragonfly, despite not usually being particuarly fond of Pro Hart's work.
Cheers,
Kris

I opened a magnum of 1998 Pewsey Vale riesling signed by Louisa Rose at a Perth offline at my place earlier this year. The wine was fine, but the signature didn't make it any better, and I think someone took the empty home.
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

I believe my only signed bottle is the 2003 Kalleske Greenock Shiraz signed by the wine maker. Still debating as to whether i should keep it or drink it when i feel the time is right.
