Wine Fridge / Wine Cooler

Post by pjb »

I am looking for some advice/reviews on wine fridges.
I was originally planing to get a Eurocave fridge, but I have access to a Vintec V150SG2E (130 bottle) for $1750 new incl. delivery, which is substantially cheaper than Eurocave and I am not sure if you can even get Eurocave in Australia.

Does anyone have feeback/advice on the Vintecs specifically the V150SG2E?
- What are the good points/bad points?
- Is it noisy (ie if I keep it inside)
- Can I keep it in the garage (can get very hot/cold in there)?
- Is it worth buying this fridge at $1750? I would rather buy a good expensive fridge, than one that is simply cheap/a good deal.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a 150SG and it's great, don't open it very often, but when I do I know it's going to be a special moment, it doesn't make a sound and I know my wines in it are in good care

Yup nice unit - although I prefer the larger models (V190 and V155 SGe)

Hi PJB

i think you should go for it. I recently started a similar blog ,and ended up with a Vintec S190.
I got great feedback on Kitchener fridges, however their Peltier version looks incedible value howver wouldn't fit anywhere in my apartment.

A word of caution though, the advertised bottle capacity is rarely valid.

Example; Vintec S190 generally can only hold 150 bottles safely, however they advertise 177capacity. I've also heard similar feedback on several other models.

Most of the claimed bottle holdings involve you taking out the shelves and stacking the bottles up without them.

A WINE FRIDGE

Until VINTEC address humidy problems do not touch them. Go with Kitchener, Eurocave, Dome.

Why can't registered users Vote on this vintec issue? Is the forum pro this company?

Vintec have huge humidity problems, go for Kitchener or Eurocave if you value your wine. Both these companies would more than likely meet the Vintec price with comparable storage capacity. Vintec are unreliable about capacity as well.
