You know the drill. What you actually buy is the biggest accolade of all. Bought a few lately, its gonna have to be a quiet time for a wqhile for me now!

Very little indeed for me:
1 btl of Penfolds St Henri 04 (with free book "Rewards of Patience"), for NZD $65.

I didn't have you pegged as a Filsell man, Craig.* Nice line up of wines you've got your hands on there though. Are those mostly single bottles or multiples of each?

*not that I'm knocking it: for me, a warm, ripe, oaky barossa shiraz can be just what the doctor ordered when its gets really chilly

I'm not a filsell man but I have friends that would rather a filsell than something more classy so like you its for a mid winter get together event where i may only get a glass :lol:

Confession: I also have a few Saltrams Mamre and Penfolds 28's for simialar occassions - they do cellar well so given my slow rate of consuming them before you know it you have a 5 year old $20 shiraz to pull out for friends that like that style

Until I review my cellar (which is in a perpetual state of anarchy) I won't be buying anything of note.

Sorry Orpheus, I wasn't trying to be evasive. I have a friend who is in the business that I occasionally place an order with. I don't know where else it is available from.
The friend was also the source of my info that the fault was too much disolved CO2.

Yes, there's been a fair bit of the Church Road back on the shelves over the last month or two. I've picked up another 6, at a little over $30.

I'm planning to pick up some of the Le Sol, but didn't go for ex winery offer as (a) their pricing's generally on the high side & (b) given Geoff Kelly's comments on higher volume this year -- but hope I don't miss out ...

Picked up a bottle of the '05 SRL from Regional on the strength of the comments around the tasting (which I'm disappointed I had to miss out on) -- worth noting that Regional's on-line pricing is quite a bit sharper than their in-store pricing, though I presume they'd offer the former to instore buyers -- SRL was $140 on the shelf / $127 (or so) on line.

Other recent purchases:

- mixed case of latest Felton road releases ('08 Block 3 PN, '08 Cornish Point, '08 regular PN and '08 riesling)

- case of Neudorf '08 Moutere Riesling

- 6 x Clearview '08 Reserve Chardonnay

- 6 x Clearview '07 Reserve Cab Franc

I woulda bought one of these if i hadnt splashed put on the other stuff this month. Also resisted the special neudorf deal. 07 moutere chardy at $44 and 07 moutere pinot at $39 was very tempting

Likewise, & only because I've already got 6 of the chard, & am trying to cut back on the amount of chardonnay I'm buying -- don't drink it fast enough so the older vintages are backing up in the cellar ...

I have been trying to keep away from buying things but couldn't resist the following items that were on sale here in Edmonton:

2006 Jacob's Creek 'Steingarten' Riesling.
2001 Lindeman's St George Coonawarra Cabernet
Ardbeg 10 Year Old Islay Malt (C$48--I know!! bought 4, one for a friend)

I'm beginning to think that sale-priced items end up costing more.

Whilst I love the Steiny in most vintages, I reckon the 07 is a lot better than the 06, for what it's worth. Good buying though.

I'll second that. Steiny 2007 is just sensational. Better than any I have tried before including the 2005.

I saw the JO rating but I haven't had much experience of judging his back vintage calls versus my own so at a tidy price I thought I'd give it a whirl. It might get opened tomorrow evening and if so I will report back.
