**NEW DATE** Next Adelaide Offline.. Thurs 18th June
Accomodating the clash of calendars... new date...
Show of hands please?
The plan is:
Russell's for dinner - $35/head includes a banquet (gourmet pizza style inc dessert) and all corkage. Theme - Small producers?
For those that (wisely) want to stay, there is plenty of accom in the McLaren Vale/Willunga area, inc a pub just down from Russell's
The morning would bring breakfast at Fino (various prices, not including corkage )
Am happy to organise booking for dinner and Fino, but will leave it to the individuals with regards to accomodation. Same goes for minibus/taxi sharing if that's what people would like.
So what say you?
cheers
Sarah

At this stage I'm interested, although it already looks like being a busy end of month for me. Anyone know when Ric & Brian are in SA to try and catch them during their 2009 tour? Nayan could be back in town around then too.
Cheers,
Ian
Ps. In regard to future offline venues, last month we had a shocking experience at the Caledonian (Bartons) for my Dad's 80th - just about everything they could screw up, they did. The Rising Sun Inn at Kensington last year was just as disappointing.
I'm still struggling to find an equivalent to what Soho used to be - I've heard The Sauce is as good as ever and at this stage would probably be the safest bet.
Cheers,
Ian

no plans as yet from my communication a while ago
Not quite sure when I'm getting back to town. Looking at attending the Auckland Stonyridge offline on the same date.
Don't hold things up on my account.
Offline date preference?
Ok by good fortune I happened to go to Russell's on Fri night, and they can accomodate larger bookings, but for this offline I recommend limiting the numbers to 14.
I will book this week based on that number so I know we can get in.
Can I please have a show of hands for preferences for the following dates:
Sat 23rd May (clashes with Dutschke dinner) OR
Sat 30th May
Thanks

This is going to be a very tricky week for me as my 40th falls midweek between the two dates, and (as usual) my family hasn't worked out anything yet (or told me anyway). At this stage I'd favour the 30th, as my brother is off to Perth on the 26th and if they choose a weekend for anything it's likely to be the 23rd - that said, it's probably safer to count me as a non-starter for either of those dates.
Cheers,
Ian

It looks as though I wouldn't be able to make it on either of those dates...!
This is interesting. If I weren't busy both dates I'd love to go, but I don't want to spend the night down there. I think I mentioned in the previous thread that I'd be up for getting a minibus or at least a giant taxi to take myself and a few other people there - perhaps if the dates could be altered to a time that is suitable for everyone/more people there would be a few takers for a bus/taxi from a somewhat central Adelaide location.
Splitting a taxi or a bus six or ten ways would make it a tolerable expense.
I haven't been to Russell's for years and I really want to!

Yeah, thanks Mark.
At the risk of thread drift, what wines from Bordeaux are you looking at smuggling in?
Cheers,
Ian

Hi Glen
I have left this for a bit, as it seems to be too far off for people (other than me!) to contemplate.
I am still keen, but I am waiting back for word from Andrew Jefford, who I have invited along to it. I had a response from him that he was keen, but he has some trouble with that kinds of location on a weekend, and added his two very young children. So I have proposed to him an alternative of having it closer to the city, and we can do Russell's on another time.
Will update the forum as soon as I hear back from him again.

Tricky for me to say if I can make it at this stage - one of my wine clubs was due to have its annual dinner the following weekend, but with both the Ed's annual Shiraz Challenge and now the following happening in the Barossa the same weekend there's a good chance it may be moved forward.
