Well it seems that i get to kick start this one off...

technically i didn't buy either of these (i love birthday presents:), but what the hey:
1970 chateau latour the grand vin
1986 penfolds grange
1997 wynns john riddoch

You have extremely generous friends/family hmmm.
The 86 Grange is still one of the top 10 wines I have ever enjoyed.

For myself, I have been buying as much 08 Mesh riesling as I can get my hands on...

A real assortment over last 4-6 weeks for me....had an assault on some stickies through auction.

John Kosovich Sparkling Burgundy (I'm sure they will have to change the name soon)
Mann Sparkling Cabernet 2006 (Dorham Mann is Jack Mann's son, and ex-Sandalford winemaker, and this wine was his retirement project)
Paxton Chardonnay 2007
Charles Sturt Uni Chardonnay 2007 (another case of this staple quaffer)
Xabregas Riesling 2008
Xabregas Shiraz 2007 & Reserve 2005
Xabregas Reserve Cabernet 2007
Forest Hill Chardonnay 2006 (alternative house white to CSU)

Also some auction bargains, including Xanadu and Green Valley cabernets, and Pierro Cab Merlot.

The drinks fridge also has an assortment of bubbles that weren't there last month. Chandon, Yarra Burn, Seppelts Sparkling Shiraz, etc

Glen Eldon Dry Bore Shiraz 2005

Was a bit sceptical about James Halliday 95 points, so tried it before I bought. Very good indeed, very typical big Barossa style. An absolute bargain for the price.

The 86 Grange is still one of the top 10 wines I have ever enjoyed.

Lucky! This was the best Oz gewurtz I've had - by some margin. Great with roast pork loin, with a bit of ginger and allspice mixed with salt for the crackling.

Yeah, they are hard to find, aren't they. Two I have been impressed with are Chatsfield from Mount Barker (although that is moot now as they have ripped out the vines) and most recently Rolf Binder's 2008 effort was a little ripper!

Ross67 - you won't be disappointed with the Balgownie E/S, a ripper for the price, even their RRP. Balgownie's been a a staple of mine for some time now, to the extent it is over-represented in my stash.

I'm surprised they don't get much "Press" given the QPR across their Estate range.

Old Salt: Yes i agree with you they are doing it well...also with their marketing/accommodation/restaurant facilities. Winemaker Tobias Anstead has been there a while now and is steering the ship in the right direction

Oh and 4 of my 12 btls are gone already

Good to see you supporting WA so strongly.

The Mann Sparkling Cabernet was actually made by his father as the family Christmas tipple and the tradition now continues through his children Dorham Mann and Corin Lamont. Corin's wine is available through Lamont's and is not surprisingly pretty much the same as Dorham's. Light pink fizz, quite dry, made from free run cabernet sauvignon juice.

Economic albeit admirable quality (AKA cheap) Rieslings for my son's Christening (maybe Pewsey Vale 08 )... couple of 98 Chateau Reynell VPs mid-summer for good measure.

Nothing else - my driving ambition is to drink the cellar to it's last haunches by hook or by crook.

not too much - i still have way too much wine, and way too many wine drinking frends, which generally means events are always oversupplied with vino and I hardly get to drink any of mine!

so my purchases these days already have some bottle time so i don't have to try to fit it into the overflowing unit.

2 x 2004 LEAS Chardonnay. Can't wait to see what these standard sized bottles are like, after that magnificent magnum last year of the same vintage

Interesting. I was really tempted by the ChÃƒÂ¢teau Grand Pontet St Ãƒâ€°milion 2005. Thankfully I discovered earlier in the day I have no physical room left in either lock up cellar. Now all I need to do is work out where I put the stuff I purchased last month as Langtons being a case of sauterne, half a case of german riesling and a few cote roties.

Neither are wines I'd normally buy, but they're too cheap to pass on.

I'm about to add 24 more to the tally Wayno ! Storage in NY apartments is somewhat problematic. That having been said, its great juice for the same price as Koonunga Hill.

and hey according to another thread we quote not in bottles but in calories now 731*36 = 26,316 calories or 44 big macs :shock:

mind you from what i have seen seldom do americans watch calories :lol:
