2003 Ata Rangi Pinot Noir - what is it worth??

Post by BillMac »

I was just browsing the Grays Online wine auction and noticed that someone had bid $149 x 12 which equals $2176.20 for 12 bottles of 2003 Ata Rangi Pinot Noir with add ons and thats $181.35/bottle.
How good is this wine? Is it worth the money or has someone gone auction crazy??

The pricing system for Grays is different from other auction houses BillMac. The listed price is for the lot not per bottle (add on buyers fee and delivery of course). Doesn't mean you don't see some silly prices there from time to time.

Sorry to differ Michael but if you look in the bidding history the bidder has bid $149 each, for 12 individual bottles.
I think the bidder must be mistaken and thinks he's bidding for 1 dozen.

Same dude is bidding on the 2002 as well, both lots up around $190-$200pb now and Gray's don't consolidate lots, so freight is $10pb on top of the 15% premium, so around $230-$240pb.
Cheers

If he's lucky his credit card won't take the damage, he can plead stupidity, cancel the card and never buy from Gray's again.
