Adelaide Offline November 13?
Adelaide Offline November 13?
Continuing from the Brisbane offline thread...
I'll be in Adelaide next week, and am at a loose end on Thursday night the 13th before a 6am flight back to Brisbane the next morning.
Any interest in a quick offline on the Thursday night? N4Sir has suggested T-Chow, I'll go with that if it works,
cheers
Andrew

I'd be interested, and while I'm flexible re venues TChow is good and centrally located . Because its a thursday I'd suggest an early rather then a late start. The TChow seafood would complement the top white (Eden Valley reisling )from the Adelaide wine show that I'm keen to open- again!

As you can gather from the other thread I'm interested. As I said there, T-Chow or for that matter a few places on/around Gouger St would be very easy to get into at reasonably short notice, corkage is cheap and we can just order things as we go like before.
Depending on how many are going & what the weather's like, I've got a few interesting things to choose from for this one.
Cheers,
Ian

Offline Thursday
I am up for this.
Long time lurker.
Can probably find a 5-8 yr old Ashton Hills Pinot to bring along. (Not the 2000 though as had one of these last weekend and probably a bit past it....)
Have we settled on a time?

I can probably belt down from the Barossa and say g'day Wizz....what time is kick off?
Good to see you can make it Dave and Matt - while it looks like it will be a smaller turnout of the usual suspects, it will be good to see some new faces. There's a good chance I could have +1-3 extra people too.
I'd say aim to arrive for a 7pm kick off time. Normally we just tend to order the food to match the wines as we go, so there could be something like peppercorn lamb to go with any gutsy reds later on. Normally we try to take a diverse range of wines, but the couple of pinots & German riesling mentioned are a good start.
So far we have going:
Wizz - German Riesling & a Pinot Noir
ck - Eden Valley Riesling
PaulG +1
Nick
MattH - Aged Ashton Hills Pinot Noir
DaveB
n4sir (+1-3)
Cheers,
Ian

One of my extras has dropped out, so it's time for a quick update (and to bump this thread back up above this morning's spam attack):

Just letting everyone know I've booked the table at T-Chow for Thursday night, 7pm start.
At this stage I'm looking at taking a 1998 red Burgundy which should be an interesting comparison to the Ashton Hills - if that fails, maybe something a little older.
Also on the cards is something with Merlot - a magnum of 1991 Yaldara The Farms Merlot/Cabernet, maybe 1990/1991 Petaluma Coonawarra Merlot (which should cover my +2).
Of course I could completely change my mind in the next 48 hours...
Cheers,
Ian

Any news yet Paul?
By the way, as usual it's BYO glasses (I'll take some for Wizz and my guests). The table is booked under Ian/Auswine forum.
Cheers,
Ian
Ps. Just as well it wasn't tonight - all the reds and pinots would struggle with this heat.

So will I - local meeting finishes at 3, then rush back to the hotel for a phone hookup with Brisbane!

Bugger - sorry to hear that Chris.
Looks like we're down to 6-8 people then - with the EV riesling gone I'll probably something white along too. Still making up my mind what though - with the dropping numbers and the growing pinot theme I might skip the merlot this time...
Wizz - German Riesling & 05 Hillcrest Premium Pinot Noir
Nick -
MattH - Aged Ashton Hills Pinot Noir
DaveB - Failla Sonoma Pinot Noir
Gavin Trott -
n4sir (maybe +2) - red Burgundy, probably a white too
Cheers,
Ian

My +2 have dropped out so now we're down to six - on the bright side there's less glasses I have to carry there and back.

Nick - Eden Valley Riesling & Samuel's Gorge Tempranillo
MattH - Aged Ashton Hills Pinot Noir
DaveB - Failla Sonoma Pinot Noir
Gavin Trott - ?
n4sir - Aged red Burgundy, probably a white too.
Cheers,
Ian
