August - What are you buying?

Post by Bick »

Folk still seemed to be posting in the June thread  , so perhaps a new thread is required. Let us know where you're spending your money this month.

Nothing yet for me... still shelling out heaps of cash on the Premier Cru, 'Salle de Bain Nouveau'. Maybe that will change later in the month.
Cheers,
Mike

A backfill of 95 Haut Brion - a wine of significant beauty.
05 Clos Mogador - when it finally arrives..
I may need to source a couple of bottles of 05 John Riddoch.

This month I'll mostly be buying (and drinking) Hungarian wines; as that's where my Northern Hemisphere vintage gig is this year!

Can't wait.

will order a 6 pack of 07 neudorf moutere chardonnay on sept 1st. Australasia's greatest chardonnay according to a recent reputable blind tasting  and from perhaps Nelson's best ever vintage

Probably nothing this month after going overboard in July.

Maybe I can sneak in a few bottles of Penley Estate Cab 2006...

Against my better judgement

a few Teyssier Grand Cru 05s, some Fevre Grand Cru Chablis 05 and some Isole e Olena Chianti Classico 05.

And that's it for awhile.
Cheers

A retailer had a 50% off sale in the UK ... load up time ...

24 x Kalleske Greenock Shiraz 2005 (98 quid a case In Bond!)
4 x Clancy Fuller Three Hogshead Shiraz 2002
3 x Torzi Matthews Frost Dodger Shiraz 2003
6 x Torzi Matthews Frost Dodger Shiraz 2004

Worked out atr about 10 quid, 22 dollars aussie dollars a bottle all in. Noice.

Missed on the 04 Kalleske Johann Georg (few bottles) at half-price but nice quaffers there for the proice. Deloighted. :D :D

fwiw I think independent retailers overloaded on the 02-05 wines hence bargains coming but have been careful in the UK from 2006 onwards. Impression only btw.

Cheers -- Jay

Bonneau du Martray 2004 - 1 case 90AUD

Penfold's RWT 2005- 1 case 75AUD

Penfold's St Henri- 1 case 45AUD

Allain Graillot Crozes Hermitage 2005- 2 cases 22AUD

Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier 2006- six pack $45AUD

Some northern Italian reds and German whites not likely to be heard of. I only say that because it took hours and hours to find anything on the producers and I don't have details on hand.

Hong Kong purhases. Tax Free. "Where the bloody hell are you"?
