Explosion at Hunter Valley winery

Post by mgbridges »

Just seen on the news websites - winery owner Trevor Drayton is one of 2 people feared killed in an explosion at his winery in the Hunter.

Sounds awful.

Very sad. Apparently a welding accident, and the winemaker, Trevor Drayton, is feared dead.

The explosion ripped through a wine processing plant, which contained several chemicals, bringing down a wall and causing the roof to cave in. It also damaged an adjoining cellar door facility.

Ambulance crews say the bodies of two people have been found and another person has suffered severe burns to 80 per cent of the body.

Terrible news. I remember him from Roseworthy days - clever, independent and respected by his peers, even then. Not long after leaving Roseworthy, he lost an uncle ( if my memory serves me) in a tragic winery accident, so the family have to relive it all over again.
