TN: 2002 Jenke Vineyards Barossa Valley Merlot

Post by n4sir »

2002 Jenke Vineyards Barossa Valley Merlot: Glorious varietal nose of chocolaty plums and a hint of briar/green, pepper and cocoa butter, then a little BBQ smoke and liquorice. Medium weight palate that’s meaty/plummy, deep and chocolaty with a little pepper, the finish very long and slightly smoky with coffee/mocha and vanilla. A perfect match for Chicken Teryaki.

Cheers,
Ian

Ian, Iam not one for Merlot much. Though I have had a try of the Jenke Merlots at a recent cellar door trip and was impressed and bought this out of all the reds on offer. I also quite recently enjoyed the 2002 from Tempus Two.

Ian
have just tried the new release 05 Jenke Merlot .
It is the best Merlot from them in a long time ( I remember having 96, so they have been making Merlot for a while !)
Its worth checking out , and great value at $20 at the cellar door

cheers
kem
