November - What have you been buying??
Ok getting toward the end of the month. My mo is scary. Anyone else doing Movember??
As for buying, another month with very limited quantity but not so cheap wines. Still making up for the first half of the years excesses
2x 06 Ata Rangi Pinot Noir
1x 03 Dry River Gewurztraminer (found tucked away at a wine shop at good price)
1x 04 Wynns Cabernet Sauvignon (supermarket clearance bin)
1x Moet NV (champagne crazy price season)
About 4 or 5 supermarket cheapies and thats it!!!
What have you been buying, whats in fashion this month???

~ 9 bottles of relatively mature Bdx from auction at the start of the month.
A few wines (in 25% sale at the best of the big supermarkets ) including a couple of bottles of Ch. Musar at just over £10 each.
That's probably it for the month, but hopefully a few in December at another auction.
regards
Ian

Yes, a few boys from work and myself are. And I believe we are beyond the scary stage! More like really bad 70's porno actor mo's now! (Any one need their pool cleaned??).
Haven't bought too much this month, just restocked some Clare rieslings I was running low on (Pauletts, Skillogalee) and some Coonawarra Cab Sav's (Balnaves, Hollick) and bought a few Italian whites from the bottle shop, though the names elude me at the moment.
Asleep in a gutter somewhere!

Much as I try to battle with 'special bottle' syndrome, I can't help it. Buy three cases of quaffers, ah, just get 3 or 4 bottles of something special to keep for a while - at least long enough to do it justice. Hence, a couple of Mount Marys, Puriri Hills, Clos du Vals this month.
To add to the several hundred bottles of exxy-Penfolds, Wendourees, Grossets, young Tyrrells Sems, St Peters, 01 Germans, John Riddochs, more Quintets, 00 Bdx that needs more years, etc., etc.
I've got over 450 bottles of wine and NOTHING TO DRINK!
cheers,
Graeme

A lot of serious stuff from Noel Young wines in Cambridge that I had ordered for my return ...
6 x Wolf Blass Platinum Shiraz 2002
3 x Penfolds Block 42 2004
12 x Bernard Faurie Hermitage cuvee Bessards-Meal 2005
12 x Dm de Fondreche Syrah cuvee Persia 2005
1 x Seppelt St. Peters 2003 (his last bottle I was told)
also -
2 x Bests Thomson Shiraz 1996
1 x Wendouree Pressings 2005
After that even though Waitrose had stuff like RWT 2004 at 25% off I had to pass.
When are you over in UK Craig? . I was at a 2006 En Primeur Rhone tasting last week which opened my eyes on oak treatment.
Cheers -- Jay

Haven't bought too much but I've certainly spent some money:
1 x 96 Krug
2 x 96 Salon
Can't wait for my 60th!
And a cheapie case of Brigewater Mill Chardy and cab merlot or it might have been shiraz. They were cheap and I haven't picked them up from the post office yet. In fact I don't even know the vintage!
Actually the reason I bought these is because I've got over 1500 bottles and nothing to drink! I'll never understand how that works.

Guys ( take it as generic !),
Well, once again started with Langtons Auction (Sydney) and ended up with:
6 X Bollinger Grande Anne 1996. - wanted this as the 1996 is considered one of the champange vintages of the century.
Now as I'm in the UK for a few days searched out an found some special port ( via www.winesearcher.com):
2 x Dows Vintage Port 1994 - found out about this one from Gary on : http://tv.winelibrary.com/2007/10/03/po ... isode-326/ - have a look if you like port
Regards Geoff

Ha, Ha. Showing restraint again I see, or just expecting a big Christmas bonus?. Have you tried hypnosis?
There are a few of those I might pick up at auction when you sell the excess in a few years time.

sensational wine. anyone know where you can buy this in NZ and at what price??
Oh - and a six pack of 2005 Elston that arrived today
Love the 2005 Elston, better than the 2006 IMO. Needs time though, will be a classic
Dom Perignon 99 (2 flute pack) (2)
ok technically it does have red grapes in it?? but it is from another country - your standards are really slipping rb

If you'd taken off your NZ blinkers when you looked at my buy list a while back and remarked on an NZ wine or two you may have noticed a sprinkling of Italian and Spanish reds as well as some "Grower" champagnes.
Cheers

yip thats why i said your standards have *really* slipped!!! Not once but twice!!
as for your "nz blinkers" you are right this year. A quick glance at the exotic and award winning kiwiwiwinefanclub cellar book database highlights some facts. The reporting section titled "things you dont need to know to have a life" reveals the following:
77% of my 2007 wine purchases have been kiwi wines against an average before this year of 62%.
It certainly has been a homecoming year.
