1990 Seppelt Show reserve Sparkling Shiraz?

Post by Julio G »

Has anybody tasted this recently/at all? Halliday does not seem to have a note on it. Thinking of acquiring some for Xmas festivities.

Most of the TN's I have seen on this wine has not exactly raved about it. The last bottle I tried was in a bit of a hole, and I don't know if it ever came out of it and whilst it was OK, it was far from great.

Hi Julio,

For what its worth I had one about 6 months ago and it wasn't the best example of this wonderful cuvee.

I've had a couple of Show Reserves from the early 80's that had much more of those beautiful developed mousse characteristics and found the finish a bit short and bitter.

That said, it wasn't a bad drop and may have been a faulty bottle - I guess I just expected a little more... :(

Best of luck,
Tony

** Based on personal experience, I recommend the '87.
