A September Melbourne Offline?
A September Melbourne Offline?
Melburnians,
At the last offline, we tentatively put forward a September date for the next offline, coupled with a tentative theme of Barossa v Rutherglen. With September fast approaching, I thought I'd open up discussion on the viability of a sept offline. I'm quite happy with the proposed theme, and also quite enjoyed the 'masked wines with options' game, so more of that would be good also.

G'day, Andrew. Good to hear from you.
I am definitely up for a September offline, Andrew, and I'm happy to consider any theme we choose. I don't mind that theme we chose tentatively last time we all met, because I don’t often get to try a lot of durif, and I have some I'd particularly like to try. Therefore, this would present the ideal occasion.
Terence, I wasn't aware that there was to be a Coonawarra roadshow this weekend. Can you provide times and location, if possible, because it does interest me.
Many thanks,
PJ.

September sounds fine guys, but I can't organise this time. Also, Abla's is in the throes of becoming fully licenced as per Tuesday's Epicure. Once that happens they will be charging a small corkage fee (per head from memory).
Not that we are tied to Abla's, just an FYI

Would be up for a Septmeber offline if no prior engagement (it's building up to be a busy month!). Barossa vs Rutherglen sounds fine. Lots of other BYO options available near centre of town. Moreton's Brasserie on Rathdowne St has nice French bistro style food, and an upstairs section that's good for setting up tastings.
Just got back from the Coonawarra roadshow.. $25, tasted through 49 wines.. not bad for value.. the Michael shiraz and John Riddoch CS, both 2004, are looking good... the Riddoch is particularly youthful and i'm tempted to chuck a few into a corner and forget about them for 10 years.. the Majella Malleea 2004 was the other standout.
