Following on from DerekJ's post - here is a link to the Aust. Wine and Brandy Corp. and info on the 60 or so wine regions in Oz.
For example, clicking on NSW will open up the map to show the dozen regions, and then clicking on individual regions (e.g. Hunter) will open up more information including a list of wineries and the varieties grown plus "Vital Statistics" (heat degree days, rainfall , temp, etc). Its not excessive detail, and there are no individual links to wineries, but its a good introduction for those wanting to learn more about regions they may not have heard about before.
WineDiva is another site to look at for information on wine regions, including links to wineries such as those in the Canberra District.

My 2c worth (I am trying to get to my 5 post quota) - I love the Canberra district, Orange and even enjoyed tasting through the range at the Cassegrain cellar door recently, which gets fruit from all over NSW, including a lot from the Northern Slopes region (New England area), which I had never heard of up until then. I was told it was a relatively cool-climate area, given its latitude (I hope I got the right term), and I enjoyed most of the wines made from fruit sourced from there, eg the Riesling, Tempranillo and I think a component of the Merlot/ Cab Sauv - especially given the young age of the vines.
