Case of wine

Post by J »

Thinking of buying a mixed case
3 2004 Te Mata Bullnose
3 2004 St Peters
3 2003 Guigal Crozes Hermitage
3 2003 Voyager Cab
Any thoughts/improvments :D

Have you read the reviews of the 03? Universally stunning.

J, why these wines? And can you secure the 04 St Peters?

Yes, I've had it several times, including pre-release samples. The 2004 is better.

There is still a fair bit around, $43 - $50+

Life's too short to drink white wine and red wine is better for you too! :-)

04 Te Mata Bullnose is a goodie. sophisticated, lovely lines. 05 is supposed to be even better but a taste of it has alluded me so far

2005 is gorgeous - Craig, I thought you would have tasted it at the winery, with the other Te Mata wines, the other weekend. I can't believe you drove all that way and missed out on a sample.

Cheers,
Sue

Nice selection. I'd most likely pass on the 03 Rhone or at least try a bottle. Not had one I have liked yet - they all taste too raw to me. Personal taste though. I know some like them.

I would also imagine that the 04 Voyager Cabernet would/should/could be better than 03 but nevertheless the 03 is beautiful wine. You could do a LOT worse than having three of those in the cellar - especially at current prices. I just bought six bottles and six of the 04 Leeuwin Art Chardonnay..

Voyager, Because I'm a WA boy and I like MR CS, good reviews and their 03 Shiraz is awesome(Not normally as big a fan of MRS).

Crozes, I love Rhone wine and 03 was supposed to be a good vintage for the North Rhone and again good reviews from a top producer.

Te Mata, Have drunk alot of NZPN but have heard good things of Syrah. Don't see alot on the westcoast so I thought i'd check it out and put a couple down for a few years.

St Peters, Big fan of Seppelt as I think any wino on a budget is and have been buying Chalambar for quite a few years and thought it was time to taste the top of the woz.

Thoughts = Nice Case.

Improvements = a mixed case of the following would be an improvement
.........................Chateau d'Ampuis
.........................Ausone
.........................DRC
.........................Clos St Hune

Have to admit I havent looked that hard since I got mine. This is interesting though, it was being plugged early on as being low volume and it would sell out quickly...
