Rumball Sparkling Shiraz a hit in Seattle

Post by bacchaebabe »

A friend who lives in Seattle was invited to an underground foodie event where everyone was to bring a bottle (or three) to share with everyone else and asked me to suggest something to make an impact. I suggested a sparkling shiraz and gave her a list of choices that should have been available in seattle. This was the email I got from her today...

"Bought the Rumball as it was the easiest to source. It was THE hit of the
evening. You'd think these folks had never seen Aussie sparkling shiraz before in their lives! Lost count of how many people exclaimed "who bought the sparkling shiraz?"/"have you tried that sparkling shiraz?"

I, of course, credited you, but still basked in the glow!

Thanks KG. You rock."

Always nice to do a little ambassor work. :P
Cheers,
Kris

Same thing happened to me. I had an artist come out from Canada about a year ago and asked for some advice on which wines he should take back that would be "different". The Seppelt OSS 02 came to mind as one of the three and it also ended up a WOTN. Boing!

Kris,

I used the Rumball as an introduction to SS for some friends in NY. They loved it, but have now uptiered to Rockford. Given I can only get 6 a year, its hard to keep them happy !

Kris,

If you get a chance, could you ask her where she bought it? I've wanted to try a SS, but haven't ever seen it in any of our stores.

Thanks!
Cheers!

Sean, from my friend, Sally in Seattle.

Gavin, I assume this is not really in competition with you so hope you don't mind...

"At Pete's Wine shop ... http://petes.cc/ I got a couple of bottles at
their Seattle store, but there's a store in Bellevue if that's closer (both addresses are on the website, obviously)

Also, here's the store's email response to my query about what they have
in stock:

____________
Hello Sally,

Here is what is available for sparkling Shiraz at the moment:
Rumball $18.99
McGuigan's $8.29
The Black Chook $13.99
Fox Creek Vixen $16.49
Shingleback $19.79"

All US$ obviously.
Cheers,
Kris

Kris,

Gavin is affiliated with some stores over here. He might be able to get a broader range of SS for your friends...

Cheers

Mike
