just had a 03' shiraz at a luncheon and it was very approachable! only had been opened 10-15mins & not decanted. WOW  Perhaps the style change is due to the plungng mentioned by AB to Adair.

My Visa card took the Wendouree hit this morning!

It looks like I got everything except one 6-pack. Based on what Christo said, it might be the CS, although they might have only given me 6 of one of the 12 bottle orders.

Yay!

Thanks Adair for your note. I have just checked my credit card account and it has also been debited. Seems I have missed out the cabs again.

Well I've got black initials and every year get FULL allocations but this year looks like only got half! Maybe it had something to do with not getting newsletter 1st time round! Either way, anyone out there get full complement of shiraz (6) and c/s (6)?

Hi Danny

Thought you weren't getting these anymore?

Moved on, less interested etc?

Or have I got it wrong?

My second year receiving Wendouree. Ordered one mixed case, only requested one bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon but didn't get it. Got the other 11 (incl. 3 straight Shiraz).

After a nail-biting month finally received order. No C/S :(
6 shiraz, 6 shiraz malbec & 12 cab/malbec. Can't complain.

Cheers,

Mark

Looks like I was a little optimistic, but after some luck securing some Duck Muck, Noon's Eclipse and Kays Block 6, thought I might take a chance on some Wendouree Shiraz. Managed to get 4 each of the Shiraz-Mataro and the Shiraz-Malbec, but none of the Shiraz. Nonetheless I'm happy with that as my mastercard is looking a little sick at the moment. Will try again next year.

Any views on drinking windows? I see Adair and others rated the Mataro from 2003 as good drinking now.

Regards,

Allan

Hello Allan,

I opened the 2004 Wendouree Cabernet Malbec yesterday. After an hour or so to open up, it was great to go. Drink now to 2054. Supreme elegance! A more detailed tasting note will be posted soon.

I will be opening each of the 2004 Wendouree reds in the coming weeks and will report, except the Cabernet Sauvignon as I did not get any, but I suspect that the Shiraz wines would be more ready to go than the Cabernets based on previous comparisons. However, although their greatness is on offer now, I suspect they will be at their best after at least 10 years.

Got a letter today stating their production for 2004 was not sufficient enough to supply orders, particularly shiraz and cab sav., from all long standing customers so missed out on everything...... :(

Thanks Adair. I'll try one of each shortly and probably hang onto the rest. I look forward to your TNs.

Am new here but thought I would put my two bobs worth in.
I just opened a bottle of 2003 Wendouree Shiraz Mataro. I am no wine expert by any stretch of the imagination but found this wine to be an exeptional drink now and believe it should improve dramatically over time. I also find it interesting that nobody seemed to get their allocation of 2004 Wendouree Cab Sav. I got my full order including the CS. Maybe I'm just lucky!!

Hi Paul.

Thanks for the impressions on the 2003. I'm hoping to give the 2004 a crack tomorrow night.

Have you been on the Wendouree list for long or did you just get your order in immediately? Did you order any of the shiraz also?

Regards,

Allan
