Who/What/etc am I?

IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m a varietal blend
I am fermented in stainless steel
My earliest vintages were limited production of less than 200 cases
I am aged in oak for between a year or two
Two individuals developed my line
Descriptors of some my vintages have included: concentrated fruit, classy, complex, rich, sweet fruit, liquorice, leathery, mammoth,
My inaugural vintage was produced from a hot, dry season
My previous vintage was considered disappointing, a reflection of the poor season
My vintage was considered to be good to excellent.
I am a Shiraz Cabernet blend
I am not a single vineyard vintage
I am a 90% Shiraz, 10% Cabernet blend

What wine and vintage am I?

I stated varietal blend to distinguish from regional blend as:

The 1975 Penfolds Grange comprised

15% Magill Shiraz
50% Kalimna Shiraz
20% Clare Shiraz
10% Kalimna Cab Sauv
5% Koonunga Hill Shiraz Pressings

Oooh, that might be one for the third umpire. Does 'not enforcing the rest of the management's ban' after 4 vintages constitute 'established'? I recall Hooke writing that Schubert was always very grateful to JPH for his support, but still...

Thanks for your reply Quizmaster... but as Michael points out

interestingly langtons rates both the 1969/70 and 74/75 vintages in the same way (shoot me if I am wrong... maybe I should check this first)

I only picked 1975 because Michael picked 1970

Well, it seems my source was indeed wrong - thanks Len :oops:

Penfolds have confirmed the only vintages of Grange that are
straight Shiraz are 1951, 1952, 1963, 1999, and 2000.

Whilst listing individual vineyard components, up to the 1980 vintage, Len Evans only has the 1953, 1975 and 1976 as having any Cabernet Sauvignon in them.

So, I was .... w ...w .... wr......wrong :!:
