Who/What etc am I
I am produced from a single vineyard
I come from a 5th generation family winery
I am aged for 2 years in Allier barriques
Approx 8000 bottles of me are produced per year
I am recommended for consumption 15-20 years from vintage year
I am made using indigenous grape varieties
I have only been commercially released since the mid 1970's
My best vintages are considered to be 1998, 1999 & 2001
I am produced using the Appassimento method

Amarone
Not sure on my Italian families, but I thought Masi was family owned still, so I reckon it's a good guess. Quintarelli and Allegrini (is La Poja an Amarone sold as IGT?) are also possibilities.
Not sure about the vintages though as Amarone in 97 and 2000 is reckoned (as I understand it) to be better than the 3 vintages mentioned. Not impressed with the 98's I've tried, especially the Tedeschi
I'll plump for Masi Costasera, but something makes me think they might have been selling commercially for longer. (edit) also 8000 bottles a year sounds too low
A final off the wall guess, if the style comment refers to the appassimento, then Sfursat Valtellina "5 stelle" might be possible (I know it uses barriques)
