Dammit, Smitty beat me to the punch - I was all ready to be the first to winge about the Canadian situation!

As each province has its own provinical monopoloy on wine retailing (except Alberta), they don't allow shipping to any other province. How wierd and ancient-minded is that?

And if you want to bring more than 2 bottles of wine back to BC with you, you are charged 117% duty/tax/whatever other charge they can think of.

So you guys in Oz really do have it great in terms of shipping. Now, in terms of availability and price of 'foreign' wines (not including NZ, of course), you are probably the worst (along with NZ) in the Western world. I'm not sure that we still have the best of the two evils, but either way is tough.
