Christmas Cake served with ??
Evening all. I am hosting a wine dinner for the hotel I work for on this coming Thursday night. Just a modest one, hoping to pick up some retail sales as well of course, so cant go "overboard" with the wines.
Opening with a Mount Riley Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc, then entree will be with Grant Burge Pinot Chardonnay, main with Peter Rumball Sparkling Shiraz, then an options wine game/mystery wine, and Miranda Golden Botrytis for dessert. Was finishing with Christmas Cake & Coffee, served with the Valdespino El Candado "Padlock" Cream Sherry, which is currently out of stock with Negioiants, and what I was wondering was maybe some suggestions to serve with the Christmas Cake.
Want to go with something decent, easy enough to obtain through retail, so any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks all,
Glynn.

Use a Seppelt's Sherry
Use the DP38 Olorosso if you can afford it (about $20) There are a few other good Aussie Olorosso's about.

Thanks folks, appreciate it greatly. I was always going to go with a muscat, tokay or port, but now having to find one in a couple of days, as the dinner is Thursday night was always the problem.
Will contact both my Orlando and Southcorp reps in the morning and see who can organise a couple of bottles by Wednesday. Thanks and again, all comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm currently sipping a McWIlliams Hanwood Amontillado, not to bad for a local PX at about $13 a bottle.
