Sorry for the late reply Derek.

If I'm not too late, while it's not exactly in your face I'd suggest the 1990 Mount Edelstone is drinking superbly right now - assuming they've looked after it from release.

Generally speaking that looks like a pretty impressive list to choose from. Would the 1974 Trennert be any good? - it was a notoriously bad year for downy mildew in South Australia, and I'd be a little surprised if it's barely passable, let alone deserving space with these other classics.

Cheers,
Ian

I vote for the 90 Mt Edelstone too.

Great wine, pretty fair value for money too.

i have tried about 3 bottles of the trennerts from here and the first bottle was excellent (tried 2003) the second was getting on a bit Late (tried 2003) but the third 1974 which i was given by the restaurant and opened when i got back from oz with a 1983 that the winemakers wife kindly gave me drank wonderfully both of which rank with some of the nicest wine i have tried.
sadly the winemaker died in march of last year.
