I'm used to disappointments in wine, but it's rare that a wine makes me angry.
The first time I tried this wine, it smelled of aviation fuel and tasted like Everclear had been pumped into it.
This time, to give it credit, the alcohol had disappated, but the result was still a mess. Gloppy, blueberry syrup and cranberry that tastes like it was massively acid adjusted. This has neither the tasty dessert like quality of a vintage port, nor the savory integration of licorice and black fruits that the best McLaren Vale shiraz exhibit. It's actually painful to drink this stuff.
After having a bottle of Wynns Black Label cab earlier in the week and thoroughly enjoying it, to have a wine like this that costs several times as much is a bad joke.
