Hi all,

Does anyone know when the next one of these will be? I would be interested in attending an offline or three in the future.

Regards

We haven't had an open invitation Sydney offline in quite some time. Well over due really.

I'm interested before it goets too hot again.
Cheers,
Kris

I too would be interested in an open invitation offline, seen as how im new around here an open invitation offline is probably the only way to meet some of you and in time perhaps be invited to other offlines which may not be open invitation.

Sounds like it could be a plan! Its been ages since I have been to an MPU with food with the Sydney chapter and as I am starting to finally recover, it may be a good time. How about Wednesday 5th October as starting point?

Gee, that's going to be a busy few days for me.

Just booked thursday 29th at Claudes, Friday is my birthday so its dinner and dancing, Saturday is the Sleaze Ball, Sunday is recovery at the Columbian, Monday and Tuesday I'll be comatose but I should be right by Wednesday so count me in.

By the way Ric, spent some time trying to figure out what MPU stood for and am betting it's Massive Piss Up. I've got a headache already.

Anyone want to propose a theme? Or not.
Cheers,
Kris

Have we come any closer to a final decision on date or a venue as yet? What about theme?

I am keen but being a newbee could someone fill me in on the protocol, is it bring a bottle (or 3) or do we chip in and buy a tasting selection for the night?

Hi Glen,

We normally set a "scene" and people volunteer to bring wines that fit within the theme. Normally one bottle per head with some people bringing back ups just in case a wine does not show well.

I'm still keen. If we can get numbers and interest quickly, we might be able to book at Atelier which is in Glebe which is nice and central, does pretty good food (one hat, from memory) and is BYO and not too expensive.

Open to other suggestions of course.
Cheers,
Kris

Don't you hate it when you get a debug error and you think it hasn't worked but it does and it posts twice?

My hand is up. I will most likely bring a friend who is very much interested in wine (and has an extensive cellar) but as yet is not mobile on the world wide web. If that is ok with the others who will be in attendance that is?

Im certainly happy with Glebe as a destination (10 mins from home).

Hi all,

Sorry for dropping the bundle on the first post but work, then a week in Sth Aust last week and then work and sorting out the wine deliveries that arrived this week have kept me away from the list.

Being a newbie to offlines, I have no idea how they work apart from a chance of good food, good wine and company. So I would be interested and it would be 2 ppl.

Trouble is getting home from Glebe after a few!!! Like Ric, I live SSW of Sydney. Heading 20kms south is inviting Ric!!!

Atelier

Post by griff »

Would recommend Atelier for what it is worth, but it all depends on the subject of the wines.

Might want Temasek in Parramatta if you want asian (aromatic whites). I get the feeling however that it would be an unlikely subject in this forum :) Just a shame I'm in England at the moment :(
Bartenders are supposed to have people skills. Or was it people are supposed to have bartending skills?

Is this still happening? Do we need to check some numbers and make a booking?

Glen,

It looks like only about six people are interested, given that at the last moment normally some drop out due to unforeseen circumstances, unless we get more interest it doesnt look like its a gower.

Once more, hands up those who are interested please.

Pencil me in, along with SWMBO, as long as it doesn't occur next week due to school holidays.

What is the protocol for these types of events?

I am guessing this has fallen by the wayside. Do we want to try and set a new date that is not in school holidays?

Since I'm only going to be in Sydney 4 days, May I humbly suggest the 28 (Fri) or 29 (Sat) of Oct. Would be great to meet in person some of the friends IÂ’ve made at this forum. Hope this date works. :)
