Tasting Notes ?
I am involved in an annual wine and food weekend amongst friends, and was hoping to find some tasting notes for some of the wines were are pouring, and was wondering if anyone can help out ?
The wines I havent been able to find notes for are -
1995 D'arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz, 1995 Elderton Command Shiraz (although someone posted to me that it is still drinking well), 1995 Wendouree Shiraz, 2002 TerraVin Pinot Noir, Dutschke Ivy Blondina 2003, 2001 Vertitas Binders Bulls Blood, 2001 Rockford Moppa Springs.... I think I have all the others covered.
If anyone can help either by posting or emailing me privately, it would be great appreciated.

Are you chasing consumer tasting notes from people that frequent this forum or official tasting notes from the actual winery? If you're after the latter, I would suggest you contact the said wineries in person. No doubt it won't be too much trouble and they could probably fax you the relevant information.

I'm sorry, it might have been the 2000 Vintage, I thought it was the 01, but more than likely is the 2000 Vintage of the Rockford.
Once I have finalised our menu/wines, I will post them in the food and wine section.

The group contains a couple of wine reps, and some other personal friends, and the highlight of last year was the Saturday Night dinner, which included 80 Tyrrells Vat 1 Semillon, 1990 St Henri and 1982 Noble One, and Rockford Black Shiraz....
As to the first reply, I would rather have forum members opinions and notes on the wines, as opposed to the "official ones". I have enjoyed all the postings on here, and learn from the knowledge provided which is far superior to mine.

How did you find the '90 St Henri last year?
I had one (that I produced blind) with some friends on a Saturday night (ironically) three weeks ago after a '97 Luce and '00 Command. It was brought out as an 'intermission' wine and everyone was quite disappointed. The bizarre thing was the colour though. There were no 'options', and the three tasters thought it looked to be a '98 or '99 wine. Just incredible. While the palate and finish was good (but not long) the nose wasn't really enticing. The bottle had been well cellared from release too. It spent over an hour in the decanter as well. Maybe it needed longer... there was immediate respect given to the wine upon its revealing but initial impressions were not favourable from anyone.

Had a 95 Dead Arm recently, it was drinking very, nicely. Went exceptionaly well with a steak we had at the time. Notes are at home somewhere, I will try to find them.

Sorry about the late reply Glyndon - I've only tried this over the last couple of days, and I hope you get the note in time. It's a bit of a dilemma as to whether it's better as an apertif or served at the end of the meal because of the light weight - it's better suited to finger food as opposed to a quince pudding.
2003 Dutschke Ivy Blondina Barossa Valley Frontignac (375ml): Very pale straw/green colour. The nose was extremely ripe, perfumed and fruity, with sultana/raisins, musky perfume/nutmeg, and hints of apricot and fennel. The palate’s just as ripe/sweet but without the weight and viscosity of your typical sticky; sultana/raisins and apricot on entry, some watermelon mid-palate, and finishing with some sweet caramel and fennel on the aftertaste. This would match a platter of blue cheese, crackers, dried grapes and sliced green apple at the end of a dinner quite well.
