Hi fellow wine mates
Iam looking for an off-dry to mildly sweet Australian Riesling, say 2%~3% r.s. and not more than 10% alcohol to go with very spicy Asain food. I've been drinking from some of the top names in Mosel (Loosen, Prum, Fritz Haag etc) and I am keen to try a few from Australia. So far I've only tasted one from Jacob's Creek which is not too bad but a little dry for my palate. Any suggestion? Had a bottle of Australian pinot (Queen Adelaide) lately...it was good for a mere S$18.
Regards
Raymond

Good luck Raymond, you are going to need it with a criteria like that one. We don't have trouble ripening our grapes in Oz.
Re: Info. About Aussie Riesling Needed
The only Mosel-style Aussie Riesling I know of is Wellington FGR Riesling.
I haven't tried it, but it has only 8.5 per cent alcohol, 40 grammes per litre of sugar and just under ten grammes per litre of acidity.
I don't know if Gavin stocks it, but it can be googled.
Cheers,
Frank

Raymond,
The reply I sent to you email bounced so here is the response.
The off dry is not the problem; the alcohol content of 8-10% is an issue in Oz. At that percent, the grapes would still be completely green and unripe in most wine growing regions here.
